@4TaxFairness @elonmusk has stated before that he would shell out billions of dollars to end world hunger if someone just made a plan and kept the money transparent. Nobody has taken him up on that yet. What makes you think that stealing it from them is going to be any better?

BREAKING: America's 935 billionaires have announced they'll give away a percentage of their collective wealth to end homelessness and hunger, and make healthcare free for all. April Fool's—they're never gonna do that. We could do that if we taxed them, though. Just a thought.

🚀 The Q4 Rocket Report just came out, with a record breaking surge in launch activity. SpaceX had 97% share of U.S. launch, and 83% globally. China was 8%, Russia 4%, all other U.S. 3%, Korea 1%, Japan 0.6%, Europe 0.2%, and India 0.1%

Trump's corporate tax breaks have officially cost us $65 BILLION. Amazon, Eli Lilly, Verizon, AT&T, Meta, Palantir, Walmart—they all got massive tax breaks. We gave THEM $65 billion that could have gone to healthcare, education, childcare, housing, and a million other things.

“Fair” in that framework isn’t about what’s earned, agreed to, or produced. It’s about what can be taken without immediate collapse. If you can remove $135 million from someone and they’re still standing, it gets labeled “reasonable.” If you can redistribute it and make others feel helped, it gets labeled “just.” The standard isn’t rights. It’s tolerance for extraction. That flips the moral question entirely. Instead of asking, “Who created the value?” it asks, “How much can we take before it hurts too much?” Instead of voluntary exchange, it becomes calibrated coercion. And once that’s the premise, there’s no limiting principle. Because “you’re still rich” is infinitely elastic. There’s always more that “won’t kill you,” which means there’s always more that can be taken. So fairness stops meaning equality before the law and becomes a moving target based on envy, optics, and political leverage.
Bernie Sanders@BernieSanders

Ok, Jamie: Let me clear things up for you. If my 5% wealth tax on billionaires was enacted you’d owe $135 million more in taxes & a family of 4 making $150,000 or less would receive a $12,000 payment. Oh, and you’d still be worth more than $2.5 billion. Seems pretty fair to me.

"If you tax the rich, they'll just leave." Not if the law also imposes a 40% exit tax on anyone with over $50 million who renounces their American citizenship 😎 Shout out to Elizabeth Warren's ULTRA-MILLIONAIRE TAX ACT.

Isn’t it interesting how we always have billions of dollars for bombs but never enough for helping American citizens meet their basic needs?

@PramilaJayapal What’s more greedy? Wanting to keep the money you earned, or thinking that money someone else earned belongs to you?

Let me break this down simply: We have a greed problem. We can afford Medicare for All. We can afford to house every person sleeping on the street. We can afford to make public college tuition free and guarantee access to universal pre-k to every child in America. The money exists. It's just sitting in the bank accounts of billionaires who write blank checks to corrupt politicians to make sure it stays there. Tax the rich. Fund the people. That's it.

“Pay your fair share” has no finish line. Because if it did, they’d have to stop. So “fair” becomes whatever amount they haven’t taken yet. More from the people already carrying the system, to fund policies that make things worse, then more again to “fix” what those policies broke. It’s escalation, not fairness.
Bernie Sanders@BernieSanders

NEW YORK CITY: I will be joining a rally on Sunday to demand that, at a time of record income and wealth inequality, corporations and the wealthiest people in this country start paying their fair share in taxes. I hope you'll join us. dsa.nyc/BernieTTR

99.85% of us are worth less than $50 million. There is no reason the 260,000 households with more than that can't pay a 2% wealth tax. Our tax code has thrown money their way for 40 years. It's time we tax the rich and fund housing, childcare, education & paid leave instead.

We don't need a Wealth Tax, we need a 100% tax on all wealth above a certain amount. Lets say $100m, that's more than enough. We need to outlaw outrageous wealth, not just try reduce it a bit. Billionaires are a danger to everything and everyone. As you can clearly see.

@BernieSanders What’s the common denominator to the first three? Government regulations have driven the prices up to epic proportions. The answer is to STOP SPENDING and DEREGULATE.

Health care? "You're on your own." Housing? "Nothing we can do." Grocery prices? "You're out of luck." $200 billion for another war? "No problem!" Americans—Democrats, Republicans, independents—are SICK AND TIRED of endless wars. We need to invest here at home.

NEW: Elizabeth Warren, Pramila Jayapal, and Brendan Boyle's ULTRA-MILLIONAIRE TAX ACT would raise $6.2 TRILLION from the top 0.15%. The money would fund: —Universal childcare —Millions of new homes —Paid family leave —Free community college —Combat child poverty

Me: Tax the rich Q: But what about all the waste, fraud and abuse? Me: investigate and prosecute waste, fraud and abuse AND tax the rich. Q: But the rich create jobs Me: Great. So they can enjoy the profits created from that labor AND pay taxes on that profit. Q: It will just make them leave America. Me: There is no tax haven in the world like the American tax haven. No they won’t. Q: Our national debt is because spending is out of control! Me: It is, but that is also something that rich people have trained you to say so that you’ll argue that they shouldn’t be taxed. Create Medicare for all ($600 billion in savings), cut the military budget in half ($500 billion). There’s a trillion right there. AND tax the rich. Q: …. Me: Exactly. Tax the rich.
