@TheEmWx Another post has it up through 2020, with a FAR of 70%. You can run your own at the IEM COW server and will find most offices in the 70-80% range.

Interesting, this data seems to be almost... stale?? The study ended in 2010, roughly a year before things such as correlation coefficient rolled out nationwide... i'd be interested to see this with more... recent data.

Learned about this last month at the Mississippi State Severe Storms Symposium and was pretty shocked. Crazy that the false alarm rate for tornadoes is around 75% and has not improved much with technology! Curious how we fix this without sacrificing POD. Better safe than sorry?

@MatthewCappucci It looks like the data stopped around 2012?? Right around the time dual-pol became fully operational. I'd be interested on what this number looks like with more recent data.

Concerning that tornado warnings aren't, holistically, getting better – in fact, there are more missed events these days. Is it the retirement of experience? Radar tunnel vision and a lesser emphasis on antecedent environment/mesoanalysis? More CYA warnings?

@CueBallJoshua @clouddyywx @SarahisCensored The big one is the fact EMS is on scene and the tornado is probably a mile from the capture position, the road has some weird Y thing in the middle and the damage is neatly placed besides some of the homes

@TheEmWx @clouddyywx @SarahisCensored I'm not disputing it, just like to see what others see in finding AI. I like doing it on YouTube because once you see it you can't unsee it.

Just intercepted wind gusts easily up to 100mph in Point Comfort, Texas. Ripped pieces of metal off the building next to me (you can hear it at the 16 second mark) and trees/powerlines down, power is out in town @weathertrackus @RadarOmega

Calling all storm chasers! We're sourcing real storm chasing rigs for our vehicle lineup in Severity, and we want yours in-game! Reply with your chasing vehicle's year, make and model + some photos (360 preferred but anything works). The best chasing rigs will be added in-game! Additionally, if you know someone with a storm chasing vehicle that deserves to be in-game, make sure to tag them so they don't miss out.
