I have spent 14 years covering gun politics in Canada on a full-time basis, and in that time, I've seen the political window framing gun politics in this country shift more than most probably realize. But once in a while, even I am surprised. ctvnews.ca/toronto/local/…

Treasury Board Main Estimates and Departmental Plans are out. Coles Notes: Public Safety is budgeting another $145M to the ASFCP, bringing the projected cost to $1BN by the end of FY2026 - meaning ASFCP will cost ~50% what LGR did, in 50% of the time. calibremag.ca/gun-ban-budget…

Always remember, the people who want you a defenceless victim are all protected by people with guns. They scoff at the mere suggestion that their citizens should be able to fight for their lives. 🇨🇦

SELF-DEFENCE: MP @RubySahotaLIB confirms the Liberal government will not support legal protections for Canadians acting in self-defence in the case of violent home invasion. "We don't want to create a system where people feel they have the right to shoot and kill somebody." 🇨🇦

@TheGunBlog A not-insignificant portion of the population is immune to pepper spray. I myself have a pretty high tolerance to it — which I only know because of my time in the military (they use the same chemical for gas mask training). You know what nobody's immune to? A bullet.

Government officials can't always be in place to defend us when malicious people attack. In that case, we must shoulder the responsibility to protect ourselves. reason.com/2026/03/16/rec…

Self-defence has become a major topic in Canada right now—and for good reason. As crime rises and public safety erodes, Canadians are increasingly talking about their right to protect themselves and their families. Unfortunately, the Liberal government continues to ignore the realities driving that conversation and instead continues to target law-abiding firearms owners instead. Pepper Spray for Self-Protection? Is this a joke? People come for you with bullets, blades and bats, and politicians propose you stop them with pepper spray?
