One of the best works by a Church Father I’ve ever read. Not too long either. St. John Chrysostom explains why none of us have any excuse to be scandalized. Ever. Including by events in the Church. It’s convicting, encouraging, and rousing. St. John Chrysostom: pray for us!

Egypt: Coptic Christian scholar convicted of blasphemy for videos defending and explaining Christian faith Christian Today, April 29, 2026: "A man has been sentenced to five years in prison with hard labour in Egypt after posting online videos about Christianity, according to Christian legal advocacy group ADF International. Augustinos Samaan, a Coptic Christian scholar and content creator with more than 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, was convicted under Egypt’s blasphemy laws for videos defending and explaining the Christian faith." It’s a brittle religion and culture that can’t stand scrutiny and questioning, and has to shut it down by force.

When I was 14 years old, I met a young man at camp. We called him Scooter at the time, but now he is Lazarus, though I have come to know him mostly as Crow, which is what I will call him here. Crow is extremely ill with a genetic condition called Marfan syndrome, which means that his body is breaking down, and he needs serious open-heart surgery to survive. If you can, please support his family with his GiveSendGo campaign, as his syndrome makes it nearly impossible to work. You can just click the link and give what you can. But for those who are interested, I would like to tell you the absolute crazy story of my friendship with Crow. Scroll down for more.

Great thread to read if you’re still not convinced latinizers live in fantasy world - revive conflict that’s been solved for decades - condemns opposition for something no one is saying - calls for burning books that are currently in seminary use - recommend AI translations

@GabrielofBoone @ByzantineYurii @OrthoAugustine "Distortions of Orthodox Truth in Russian Theological Thought" It is only in Russian, though, you can just google translate the page, and if you see something interesting, just use some form of AI.

Attacks on Opus Dei and all faithful Catholics will only increase as it becomes increasingly clear that two roads and two roads only lay open to the West. As GK Chesterton said, both roads lead back to the past: either we return to some kind of Catholic fellowship or we return to some form of pagan slavery. There is no third road.

@TexasRose1836 Step one, talk to your Priest/Spiritual Father. Internet advice is free and worth every penny. We are all called to live like Christ. God gave you that job. Be the best at it. Remember Christ was BOTH loving and a table flipper when people needed correction. #RoyalPath.

Honest Question for My Orthodox Christian Friends How can a woman in a leadership role as a civil servant live out true Christian submission? I’ve spent 35 years working my way up in public service, and I’ve only been seriously following the Orthodox Church for the past three years. I love my work and the responsibility that comes with it, but I’m wrestling with how to reconcile being a decisive leader in my professional life with the Orthodox call to humility, obedience, and submission. Can one be a strong, competent female leader while still embodying the submissive spirit expected of an Orthodox Christian woman? I’m not looking to rebel against Church teaching — I genuinely want to grow in faith. Any wisdom, Scripture references, or practical examples from those who have navigated leadership roles while staying faithful would be deeply appreciated.

The Chios massacre of 1822: Approximately 42,000–50,000 Greek Orthodox Christians were killed and over 50,000 sold into slavery by the Ottoman Turks. Approximately three-quarters of the population of 120,000 were killed, enslaved, or died of disease after thousands of Turkish troops landed on the eastern Aegean island. On March 31st, orders were given to burn down the town, and over the next four months, another estimated 40,000 Turkish troops arrived on the island. In addition to setting fires, the troops were ordered to kill all infants under three years old, all males 12 years and older, and all females 40 and older except those willing to convert to Islam. Tens of thousands of survivors dispersed throughout Europe to become part of what would become known as the Chian Diaspora. ~Relics of the massacre in Nea Moni (Monastery) on the Greek island of Chios.

When they call you Islamophobes, I want you to remember that 200 years ago, in Chios, 42.000 Greek Christians were massacred by the Muslim Turks and 52.000 were sold into slavery. Please don't forget.

On the Mystery of the Eucharist and the Scandal of the Miraculous Monday - before the Sunday of the Samaritan woman When the Lord proclaimed the teaching concerning the Mystery of His Body and Blood, establishing it as a necessary condition for communion with Him and making it the source of true life, many of His disciples turned back and no longer walked with Him (John 6:66). To them, such an act of boundless divine mercy seemed too wondrous. Their aversion to the miraculous is what drove them away from the Lord. The Lord saw this, yet He could neither diminish nor replace that which is miraculous, even though He was ready to be crucified for the salvation of all. So necessary was it in the economy of our salvation! With sorrow, He allowed them to depart from Him into the darkness of unbelief and destruction. To the chosen Twelve He then said: “Do you also want to go away?”—showing His readiness to let even them go, if they would not bow before the mystery. From this it follows that to flee from the miraculous is to flee from the Lord and Savior, and that the one who turns away from the miraculous walks toward destruction. Let those who tremble at even the mention of the miraculous take heed of this! For they too will encounter a wonder against which they will no longer be able to object: death, and after death, the Judgment. But whether this inability to object will then serve for their salvation—God alone knows. @Orthodox_cross Humility is no walk in the park! I had no idea I was such an arrogant, big mouth, idiot until I asked God to help me to see my own sin not that of my brothers. Lucky for me he doesn't show me all of my flaws at once.
