In order to save anyone the hassle of asking me about it, I decided to cave and put together a quick explanation on the private drive I post about on here. ===CONTENTS OF THE DRIVE=== INSTALLS — Hundreds of various forms of installs that I've compiled over the years from both sides of the ball (Special Teams coming soon) that span from high school to NFL. COVERAGE LIBRARY — An organized library of installs and materials from the installs and other sources. This is a favorite of most people I get feedback from. FILM — Although it's not the main focus of the drive, there is a hefty amount of college and NFL film that is cycled in & out. These are downloadable so that they can be kept even after they're cycled out. CUTUPS — One of the most informative parts of this drive are these cutups that are labeled and organized in a way that allow them to be used for teach tape. These are currently focused on the Reid system since it's the offense I'm able to provide context and additional resources for. MANUALS — Along with some position manuals that span from HS to NFL level, all of the documents I put together and use as teaching tools are available within the drive. This includes the "Winning With Pre-Snap" manual and a wide variety of glossaries. OFFENSIVE SYSTEM — The last main piece to this is my personal system's pass game materials. There are hundreds of diagrams and a complete manual that provide context to everything included in this folder. My system is built on a Reid/Pederson west coast foundation with some modern flourishes. Basically, if you are interested in learning the specifics about any of the following, this is an excellent resource for it. — Pass game concepts — Coverage mechanics — Quarterback process (Pre- & Post-Snap) — Quarterback fundamentals (footwork, etc.) — Teaching the pass game — The Andy Reid offense — The Vic Fangio defense — West Coast offense — Baltimore defensive system — Coverage techniques — Route running — Creating & implementing a system — Scouting opponents — Evaluating talent For those who are interested in access, it's now $20 (via CashApp or Venmo) up front to help offset the storage costs and allow for constant new updates. Instead of a subscription model, this is just a one time thing and you'll get access for good. If you are outside of the US, just contact me to work something out because I know those aren't available to you. The main goal is to share information rather than gatekeeping it, so if you aren't in a position to contribute, just let me know and I'll make it work…no questions asked. I'm not going to shut anyone out of these resources and I'm happy to help anyone who may not be in a position to contribute right now. I've been in that position many times before and others were always helpful to me, so don't hesitate to ask. Anyone can either just send it to CashApp ($TheHonestNFL) or Venmo (@TheHonestNFL) with their Gmail included so I can set you up, or get in touch with me. Just requesting access to the folder itself isn't an option anymore for reasons that are out of my control, so you need to go through me to get it.

I respect the time and effort they put into it even when 95% of the time it’s just for those few minutes of glory. They did the work (the ones I know did, at least) to be the go-to for those agents and F.O. personnel to get certain messages out. That doesn’t mean it’s any less funny that a lot of it is copy/paste merchantry and ego stroking like this post.

@TheHonestNFL I suppose. All these insiders do is tweet out what an agent or GM tells them to say a few minutes before the team account announces it anyways. But then they act like they’re Woodward and Bernstein

Making the jump from watching a 5 hour video to someone being “offended” by it is quite a stretch. All I said that it was a really good watch and fascinating look at mentalism, then you came in calling everyone a bunch of jealous dorks. My only response was trying to provide context to the situation, and you just blew it off like everyone else is stupid, so you can miss me with the crap about me being hostile.

@TheHonestNFL Yeah because honestly you have been coming off as hostile and angry and saying things like “I just find it all funny” doesn’t seem that way. You actually seem offended by the whole thing. Enough to watch a 5 hour exposure video. And then assumed I was mad for some reason.

Anyone who hasn’t watched Stevie’s 5-hour YouTube masterpiece that he dropped out of nowhere like Reservoir Dogs needs to. It’s the fastest 5 hours you’ll ever spend and the most interesting look at this mentalism thing.

Is Oz the Mentalist betraying the magician's code? Stevie Baskin thinks so. "They don't want people who are going to come in and tarnish their art form by using cheap tricks.... He's certainly Icarus flying too close to the sun."

One of the puzzling things about social media is commenting on random people’s stuff and then drawing conclusions based on how they type. I’ll have to remember to bring my lols, hahas, and emojis with me from now on so I can prove how much I laugh. But it’s quite clear we’re not even having the same conversation, so I’ll gladly agree to disagree if we can end it here.

Dude, you were offended to the point of commenting on random posts by people you don’t know. You’re not really in a position to try and take the high road by saying everyone else is mad and a dork. Pardon me for finding mentalism drama hilarious. You’re absolutely more than welcome not to engage further. It won’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

I love the dudes who call other people dorks and nerds online as if they’re above it, all while commenting on multiple random social media posts regarding a mentalist. I don’t think you’ve actually read anything of what I said if your only response is that all of it is innocuous mentalism. Should people be more aware of how gullible they are over something that’s meant in jest? Absolutely. But there are many others in the field of mentalism (funny, I know) who’ve taken issue with it. I’m just someone who finds the fact that people buy the books very funny.

@TheHonestNFL Yes. It’s exactly that because of this below. I have no idea what you dorks are expecting out of it. Or being upset about. It’s so innocuous.

Ah yes, the classic jealous dork syndrome. I have no problem with the actual act he does in any way whatsoever. He’s very good at what he does, but, in my opinion, he started following the snake oil salesman playbook a bit too much on his book tour and that really is what sparked all of that if you watch the original video.

No, obviously not. His most recent book publicity was where he got into hot water here, in my opinion. The fact that he says he doesn’t have any special abilities is really noble and all, but that’s all part of the facade. He does present himself to have this supernatural ability to read body language and cues or whatever, which is horse shit.

I didn’t get that sense of him at all. He seemed way more fascinated with the human psychology behind it, which is why he framed it the way he did. He presented it in an almost reverential way. To me, the stuff Oz was doing to accomplish any of it wasn’t the interesting part. It was the way he was manipulating situations that I was fascinated by, and I fully agree it could’ve been much shorter, but 30 minutes would just been a checklist of reasons it’s all fake that can be found anywhere if you look hard enough.

I watched like the first hour or so and skipped around and watched another hour or so. Some of it was intriguing but could have easily been condensed and edited down. The guy Pablo had on seemed very petty and jealous . He’d say things like “a lot of people think he’s a fraud” without saying what he thought. Also, who made this guy the authority on all mentalist activity. I had never heard of him. I do have an interest enough to watch 2 hours of it, but other than pre show prep meetings that aren’t on film and calculator / google page history, what else is there? Could have been covered in 30 minutes

I think your whole premise of the “magician” and the “layman” is just a huge word salad that (intentionally or not) is just saying nobody understands unless they’re a magician, which is both ridiculous and hilarious. The point is that he went beyond “magic” (or the spirit of it, at least) to sell a book to people by telling them he’ll teach them everything they need to know to do what he does, most of which is accomplished by traditional means like pre-show interviews and gimmicking. There were tens of thousands of people who bought that book because he told them they could learn to read behaviors like a mentalist and figure out PIN numbers. It was just a huge money grab while he was on top, and I don’t blame him for that at all. I just don’t like the methods he used to attain it.

No I’m not saying he’s not scammy with regards to the books stuff. I say he uses deliberately vague language to describe what you can learn so that it’s interpreted as the most unbelievable thing for layman whereas magicians know that what he says may technically be true, but the interpretation in their minds is entirely different and less impressive than that of the layman and that’s by design I even said this is a commonly done thing by some people in the magic community, I fell for many similar things when I was younger. In fact this even relates to another principle of magic called dual reality, one in which 2 different spectators have 1 trick performed to both at the same time but they experience experience 2 entirely different routines from their perspective, and the audience even experiences something different to both of those

I didn’t just make any of it up or base it on my own interpretation. He literally told people they could “be like him” and learn that way, and let’s stop acting like we’re talking about people of two completely different worlds. We’re talking about something that any reasonable person can partake in and appreciate without having to believe their finger magically disappeared. If we were having this conversation before I heard about his book and watched him pitch it, I’d be in agreement with most of it. Unfortunately, he decided to take advantage of people with the way he did that and he knew exactly what he was doing. He’s not a saint.

See I think this might be a slight disconnect between magicians and layman’s. I think his book is tailored for magicians in terms of content but pitched and sold as if it’s for layman When a magician hears what he claims about his book, they understand it in the context of their already existing knowledge of magic, but layman will buy into it thinking it’s a genuine magic pill or something It’s something about the magic community that is common and I don’t like, haven’t fallen for it prior to becoming a magician. But at the same time falling for it was necessary to become a magician It’s a tricky one Ultimately I think the big issue is that with magic, you can’t just dip your toe in the water, you have to commit one way or the other. Either commit to being the performer, which means you can’t never enjoy magic as an audience member again, or you commit to being the audience, meaning you can’t know how all the tricks work A big issue is that the default behaviour seems to be “I want to be fooled a bit but then if I don’t have everything revealed to me afterwards then I won’t be happy”. The embers of this desire couldn’t be fanned to flames prior to widespread, ubiquitous internet

The stuff he’d been doing for the 5 years before the book, I’m all for that because I think it’s harmless fun and people generally understand that what makes the “mentalist” great is their ability to pull these things off as is it required no effort at all, and I think that’s cool. I just draw a very hard line when someone begins thinking they’re special (Uri Gellar) even though they aren’t, and Oz started down that road with his book and how it was promoted. I still like a lot of the stuff he does, but I’m pretty annoyed with his shtick now and it’s no longer fun to pretend he’s anything more than a modern Gellar.

I’m a mentalist and I have found the whole oz Pearlman reaction very odd People treat him as if he’s claiming to be genuinely magic so they feel the need to “expose him”, very silly. Like “exposing” the fact that the hulk isn’t real I will say however that the 5 hour YouTube vid on it is probably some of the best magic content/analysis I’ve ever seen and the guy who made it was a complete layman
