@MaxedLuck @RazorFist I think they understood it since ME2 Cerberus is basically just a retcon of one of ME1's shittier side elements, the issue with ME3 was they had no time, no resources and a writing team that was falling apart, so cliches and lazy writing it was to meet the deadline.

@TheIgnominiousX @RazorFist I genuinely believe the writers didn't know what they wrote with Cerberus in ME2. They gave a perfectly viable alternative path to Shepard but probably didn't comprehend it, that or they did comprehend it which is why the DLC goes out of its way to say Cerberus is still evil.

Mass Effect 1 was a flawed masterpiece with room for improvement. Mass Effect 2 decided it didn't want to improve those things. So it threw them out. And did 200 other things we never needed it to do. It did those things well, but even so. We never asked for them.
Isaac Young@HariSel57511397

While Mass Effect 3 resolved terribly, the real culprit to killing the franchise is ME2, which wasted a whole game on a functional side quest instead of building up the Reaper Invasion (relegated to a dlc) and more importantly, how to stop the Reapers.

@MaxedLuck @RazorFist This is really how a rewritten and twice as long Mass Effect 3 should've made its foundation. Do you side with the Citadel and the Alliance to build your army against Harbinger, or go with Cerberus and the Terminus Systems. An actual choice instead of 'Cerberus is evil now.'

@RazorFist To expand on the post you QRT'd, honestly I think the story of ME2 is fine if the developers weren't cowards. Making Cerberus the pro-human faction would have actually given Renegade an entirely viable route in ME3, but the devs chickened out and made Renegade evil Shepard.

@revenant_MMXX On-the-nose but diegetic tutorial which explains everything you need to know, yet QA testers were so stupid that the team were forced to add in three mandatory audio logs and two UI tutorial pop-ups alongside it. Perhaps the single best example of 7th Gen handholding.

7th gen was also the origin point of tutorials becoming excessive and even baked into the gameplay itself, being constantly interrupted with button prompts and hand-holding. It all got a lot worse in 8th and 9th gen, but it started in 7th.
cyn@w0rldw1dew3b

@enigma0451 7th gen had lots of good games, but people often ignore the fact that it was where a lot of modern issues in gaming started popping up. the things that made these consoles cool, such as digital distribution for games, were a double edged sword in the end.

Left-wingers, especially those from the aging generations, define themselves by their self-image as the counterculture. If they actually stop to acknowledge that they've firmly held the establishment for at least a decade, arguably two or more, then not only do they lose the justification for their activism, they lose what they see as their purpose in life. So, they have to hold up this larp that they're still sticking it to their bible thumping grandpappy who died twenty fuckin' years ago to feel better about stomping on the right-wing youth who grew up under their near-unchallenged reign.

@KKalvaitis Mass Effect 2's writing team more or less said "hey, what if we made even more excellent squad members and flesh out/fix Cerberus in a really interesting way, oh and then just write a bunch of dogshit for the main plot." Great pieces, horrible whole.

Don’t forget that not only did every single ape in Iryna’s train car avoid her like the plague but they also didn’t call for help, warn people about the attacker, and instead filmed Iryna dying in a pool of her own blood

The idea that "Life is sacred!" is almost exclusive to Europeans, with a few other rare bastions on the planet, such as our new Japanese Xitter Friends. Just look at Africans, and how they don't really mourn. They turn funerals into parties. This - I suspect - is why they get so upset when criminals are arrested. While a murder is happening, they might be worked up about it, but once the murder is over with - unless if there's some particular vendetta they have with the murderer themselves - the event, and the victim, retreat into the African dream-time past. The idea that somebody should be punished for something so remote and ephemeral (5 minutes ago) seems needlessly cruel and sadistic to them. If something isn't immediately in front of their faces, they have trouble relating to it.

For the record, if you do nothing with an IP for 7 or 8 years, you should lose it and it should go up for sale so someone can actually do something with it. IP hoarding gives way too much power to corporations.

People clowning this for being too similar to Mirror's Edge (ridiculous) when this is literally just competition at work. EA won't make another one of these. There's a subset of people demanding one and this dev is supplying while putting his own visual spin on it. Win-win. GJ.

@finesse_angles @froggoidiot @JackOfFaces Modernity leads a lot of people to convincingly act a certain way, but they always revert back to their genetic self when the chips are down. It's always their mom, it's always their dad, and they're always a grandparent. You can never really escape what you are.

Disregard the comments on racial intricacy for a moment and study this particular expression for the sake of deepening your understanding of factual physiognomy here. Obviously, this is a child - we don't attach any judgement or harshness to their behavior, but are rather merely observing evolutionary traits at play and how they affect behavior from a young age. Therefore, for the sake of science, you have a very good example of what we call "wrathful synergies" in my particular vein of facereading here in this video. Particularly the strong downward leaning of the brows, eyes mimicking the degree and the slope, a flat and wide face with high cheekbones and a wide mouth apparatus with a similarly flat and wide nose and smile. This imprint is unmistakable - you should know it well because people born with these traits will be the "finds nasty things funny" people. This archetype is incredibly carnal, very senses-first and has a difficult time regulating impulse and desire - they prioritize their emotional state over anything else found in the external. During childhood, this is the type of kid that doesn't share his food. Generally a very low baseline for empathy - they rarely go beyond themselves and their self-interest. Also the type of people that find swear words and cussing funny, unhygienic things and behaviors funny, people falling or inadvertently hurting themselves funny, etc. By funny we mean entertaining and by entertaining we mean stimulating. How does that attitude manifest in behavior? Well - like this. They feed on strong emotional reactions and do whatever they can (or can get away with) to incite those strong emotions in others. All kinds of problems in family, relationships, social settings arise from this sort of behavior, I'm sure you can imagine. And these tend to over time develop attitudes towards the world that makes it feel hostile to them, eventually serving as a sort of twisted plaything for these people to stimulate themselves with. And because they require this constant stimulation - when they don't receive it - they usually don't have the inner sophistication to entertain themselves and their boredom, and that's when the desire to aggressively disrupt their immediate surroundings comes from. There's very little deliberation to it, they just do it because they feel like they need to - to achieve whatever momentary stimulation of the senses they can. When this behavior isn't addressed and normalized in the genetic pool or family tree, it stops being a behavior and starts manifesting as strong physiognomic imprint. You're looking at decades of repeated, intergenerationally unresolved and unrestrained carnal attitude and trauma. But the innocence and purity of the child is such that they can be rewritten and rewired through love, compassionate education - this is where the great responsibility of parenthood weighs heavy on those responsible. But how many parents in today's society realize and understand the significance of their mission as parents and spiritual guides when they themselves are in need of spiritual education? That is a question I ponder quite often.
