Frame 2 and 3 explicitly state the origin of akara is Yoruba, with its footprint found all over Yorubaland from Nigeria, Benin republic, Togo up to Brazil, where we have lots of Afro-Brazilians who are descendants of Yoruba people and still preserve Yoruba culture till date. I’ll also like to add that the etymology of the word is found only in the Yoruba language. Frame 4: Akamu is a Yoruba word loaned into Igbo language, and the etymology is found only in the Yoruba language. So Ibo/Igbo people neither created nor popularized Akara and Akamu. The credit for that solely goes to Yoruba people of Nigeria, Togo, Benin republic and Brazil. Thanks to them, akara is now a global food. The era of letting everything Yoruba be appropriated by history distortionists and culture appropriators is over. Yoruba, speak up!
