@Jeff_Baumgarten @SeaUsStache Cabby’s hitting numbers won’t stay that good, but he’s a menace on the basepaths and a great fielder. I agree, wish we still had him. But, on the flip side, there’s a whole slew of middle infielders in Tacoma with that same profile.

@SeaUsStache Of all of these, Caballero was the no brainer to keep IMO. Jared was hard to predict, Fraley nobody cold have seen coming and Teo couldn't hit in Seattle period. (Just like Garver - sigh.)

@SeaUsStache I miss Cabby. But the Fraley deal was years ago. I’ll pass on the other two. Last thing this team needs is 40 more strikeouts from 2 players.

I know rage engagement is like 95% of Twitter but something about the subset of Mariners fans that shit on Julio is so lame to me. The body of work in 2024, so far, has not been great. We all watch the games. If you can’t zoom out and understand the bigger picture here and what he means in order for the M’s to be great, idk man, might be time to take a break. Julio has been the first real home grown symbol of a superstar in so long. Let him struggle without throwing him overboard. It’s a long ass season, and he’s going to have a long ass career.

@shannondrayer @ArchdukeCollins What he’s not getting is that Ty and Teo are both better hitters than Canha, and Kelenic will be back on September. Why the hell would we trade a prospect for 20ish games of Mark Canha when he’s not as good as the players he’d be replacing?

@ArchdukeCollins What you are not getting here is he would be looked at and played as an outfielder first. That means no Marlowe. They would not just sit Ty or Teo and he would not be kept in bubble wrap for "insurance" purposes.

They just didn’t get one.

Yep. Never got why they let Santana walk. Then they had to settle for La Stella in January. Other things looked like improvements on paper, but not that, especially when you factor in how big Santana was in the clubhouse and how he was primed to benefit from shift restrictions.
