It’s a very risky job, but it can pay well if you choose the type of restaurant where people understand the importance of tipping well.

@TheMBA_EVR @Newtons_Laws @Monica55dzrh Where in the world you get paid less than three bucks an hour: what kind of stupidness is that? Just give her a decent salary 10% gratuity and if she's really good then you can still tip her, if she is really good, and obviously no tax. End of Story.

We went to a dinner as a group and had a $500 bill. We tipped $40. We were happy we can be able to give our server something, but her reaction was the opposite. She told us she assumed we're going to give her at least $120. When we asked for the manager, she said she was just joking, but she wasn't smiling at all. Idk, but is $40 tip enough for $500 bill? I just feel like expecting $120 is not realistic..... 🤔🤔

@Monica55dzrh What I find ironic is the waiter gets more money walking the food to the table through tips then the cook who slaves behind a 400 degree grill 8+ hours a day.

@Newtons_Laws @Monica55dzrh Waiters are only paid $2.85 an hour because of the topping system. If she works 8 hrs. & each guests takes 1.5 to 2 hours, that would be about $160 per night. Not good at all, given how much moving around &stressing goes in to getting orders out and keeping refills consistent.

@Monica55dzrh Maybe $50 was right, but $40 is still $40. The place doesn’t sound cheap, but imagine she gets 10x$40 in an evening, on top of her wage.

@Monica55dzrh The gratuity was not automatically added. Anytime it is not added, you should tip at least 20% for good service. You should have tipped $100 at the very minimum.
