Mills believes TOP could serve as a buffer to keep New Zealand First out of power. TOP has a Citizen’s Income policy, essentially a universal basic income, would provide $19,400 a year to every Kiwi, funded by an annual land value tax of 1.75 percent per annum. Come November 7, if Opportunity were to form a government with National and Act, he says he would support it, so long as it weren’t “compromised by having to swallow a poison pill with New Zealand First”.   A 71-year-old, out-of-touch multi millionaire thinks this fringe, crackpot party — the one that wants to “grow the economy” by putting the entire country on the dole, funded by massive land taxes, and whose leader believes a woman can have a dick — is going to break 5%. The way the government treats business in NZ is dumb. Not all business is of equal value to our economy. A business that is owned by a kiwi that exports to the world is better for the economy than import business selling locally. The worst businesses are foreign owned, importing products, & exporting money. They should be taxed accordingly with the businesses that bring the most money into our economy getting the best tax incentives. We should make it far easier to start these kinds of businesses too, allowing them to skip paying tax until they reach a profit threshold. We need to be smarter.
