Here's a legitimate problem to be flustered about with the offense and definitely something worth taking issue with process wise. Here is where the Yankees metrically hold up and rank out of all 60 team-season pairs the last 2 years. Dodgers and Yankees similarly had 2 of the 3 best offenses in baseball last year. One major component of both offenses is an overall passive approach — not much swinging overall with the goal of minimizing run value lost on chases, though with the trade-off of run value lost on not swinging in-zone. However, what has made the dodgers stand out so far this year, despite the similar approach, is that they not only don't chase....they swing a TON in zone. In fact, even more so than last year, by a lot... The Yankees on the other hand, not only have swung a lot less at meatballs, in zone, and over the heart of the plate than last year, but rank near the bottom in all categories amongst all team-pairs since 2025. Having an overall passive approach works — it's what gave the Yankee offense and Dodger offense top of the league feats last year. But this only works when the the value from not chasing compensates for the value in not swinging in zone...when you don't swing in zone this much, there probably will be problems.

I hate being negative because that’s not who I am as a creator, but I need to rant for a second about the current state of MLB The Show I truthfully believe MLB The Show 26 has a chance to be one of the worst games in franchise history if things are not changed - No new online game modes - Same game modes without change for YEARS, ranked/events/BR are completely stale - Lack of quality rewards for online play, no true reason to get good at the game for top tier rewads - Best way to earn is constant mini seasons on ROOKIE, awesome for NMS/casual players, but shouldn’t be the best way to earn - “PCI Shrinkage taken out of the game when hitting”, not true at all - Josh Hader glitched for two years, no fix - Dread lag still an issue for YEARS - Bots have taken over ranked with no fix - Cheaters ruin gaming experience for online players of all levels, manipulating scores/cheating system plays the game for them - Perfect umpires online are indeed NOT perfect - P2P connection PUNISHES the person with better internet - Disconnects/people getting booted from games for no reason - Investing in cards completely nuked - UI/Menu Screens slower than ever - STILL can’t see ranked record of yourself or opponents - Servers feel rough every other day I’m sure I’ve missed some things, but these issues affect people on a daily basis playing this game I’m also not the one to play any RTTS or Franchise so I really can’t speak on the state of those game modes I think the content of this game has been solid, but when there are so many other glaring issues the game has, it doesn’t matter I truly want MLB The Show to be the best sports gaming franchise of them all, not just as a creator, but as a baseball fan and someone who genuinely enjoys playing the game I don’t know what it will take for MLB The Show to take the necessary steps to become better, but I hope that time is sooner rather than later

@RyanGarciaESM I won’t overreact to game two wanting to get everyone in, but Rice and Goldschmidt being more of a platoon than perceived was probably my number 1 roster management fear this season.

I understand the baseball strategy around it but when you publicly signal "we want Rice against LHP" and say it in quite literally every response around it, you don't really deserve goodwill here

@esidery @RapSheet The defense was abysmal in 2024. They could and should have done it in spring 2025. They didn't. They added the bare minimum. They can "plan" all they want...but they're more wrong than right.

The Bengals plan to pursue multiple defensive starters in free agency utilizing the money they could have paid Trey Hendrickson, per @RapSheet. Cincinnati plans to be aggressive overhauling their defense to compete immediately next season.
