The march to restore prosperity and better days to our beloved nation took a firm and decisive step forward today at the National Secretariat of our great party, the African Democratic Congress.
This is more than a political journey; it is a national movement rooted in hope, renewal, and the collective resolve to save Nigeria from despair. I call on all Nigerians, regardless of region, faith, or background, to join us in this noble cause. Together, we will restore the promise of our nation and bring good times back again. -AA

Dear Nigerians,
There was a time Nigeria walked into any African gathering and commanded respect. Under Obasanjo, our voice carried weight, our diplomacy shaped conversations, and Africa looked to Nigeria for direction.
Today, at the Africa Forward Summit in Kenya, Macron spoke. Ruto projected Kenya. Senegal’s young President inspired the continent. But Nigeria? Reduced to the sidelines.
Tinubu’s foreign policy has turned Africa’s giant into a spectator. ECOWAS weakened, regional influence fading, and Nigeria no longer “at the table” where global decisions are made.
Leadership is not about occupying a seat. It is about presence, gravitas, influence, and vision.
Nigeria deserves to lead Africa again — not watch from the shadows.
2027 must be a turning point.

Responding, NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu commended the long-standing partnership between both institutions, describing corps members as “credible, reliable, patriotic, and easily trainable manpower.”
He stated that the scheme remained fully committed to supporting INEC in delivering free, fair, and credible elections across the country.
“The last batch of millennials will soon exit the scheme, leaving behind a generation of digitally savvy Gen Z corps members whose ICT proficiency will greatly support modern electoral operations,” Nafiu said.
The NYSC DG also appealed for improved welfare, compensation, and insurance packages for corps members participating in election assignments, stressing that adequate support would motivate them to continue serving the nation diligently.
He assured the INEC chairman that the NYSC would fully mobilise corps members and administrative personnel for the forthcoming elections and continue to play a central role in strengthening Nigeria’s democracy. @officialnyscng

INEC to Deploy 1.4 Million Corps Members for 2027 Polls
The Hon. Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, led a high-powered delegation of National Commissioners, the Secretary to the Commission, directors, and senior aides on a strategic courtesy visit to the headquarters of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Abuja.
The delegation was received by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, and members of the scheme’s senior management team at the Yakubu Gowon House.
During the visit, Prof. Amupitan reaffirmed the critical role of corps members in Nigeria’s democratic process, revealing that INEC would mobilise over 1.4 million ad hoc staff — largely drawn from the NYSC — for the 2027 general elections.
Describing the meeting as more than a formal courtesy call, the INEC chairman said the visit was “a mission of profound gratitude” to an institution he described as indispensable to the success of elections in Nigeria.
He noted that corps members have consistently formed the backbone of INEC’s election operations since 1999, particularly as presiding officers and registration area officers across polling units nationwide.
According to him, the 2023 general election saw INEC deploy about 1.2 million ad hoc staff, with over 70 per cent — nearly 850,000 personnel — made up of corps members and student volunteers.
Providing insights into preparations for the 2027 polls, Prof. Amupitan disclosed that INEC would require 707,384 corps members for the Presidential and National Assembly election scheduled for January 16, 2027, and another 707,384 for the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections fixed for February 6, 2027.
He added that thousands more would be needed for off-cycle governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states, as well as bye-elections in Nasarawa, Enugu, Rivers, Ondo, Kebbi, and Kano states.
The INEC chairman praised corps members for their patriotism, discipline, neutrality, and digital competence, particularly in operating the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
“In many states, corps members accounted for nearly 90 per cent of Registration Area Officers and Presiding Officers. They protected the sanctity of the ballot across 176,846 polling units nationwide,” he said.
Amupitan also acknowledged the risks associated with election duties and assured the NYSC leadership that INEC was committed to strengthening insurance, welfare, and security arrangements for corps members deployed during elections.

On this World Nurses Day, I would like to take a moment to appreciate all the nurses and midwives in our dear nation, who occupy a very special place and play very critical roles in our health sector. As one who has been on the vanguard of investing in our critical sectors of human and national development, I have always maintained that you, our dear nurses, are the heart of our health sector.
Over the years, I have traversed different corners of our nation supporting different schools and colleges of nursing and midwifery because I understand the inevitable role you play in our healthcare delivery. As you mark this special day, I wish to, firstly, thank you for all your efforts and sacrifices. Your compassion, sacrifice, and resilience keep our nation alive. And secondly, I wish to encourage you not to relent in your service to humanity. Nigerian nurses work under some of the toughest conditions with dignity and courage. From physical and mental stress to high patient-to-nurse ratios, to lack of equipment and poor working environments, your resilience keeps our health sector going.
And beyond the shores of the nation, our nurses have continued to make exploits on the global stage. From leading the next generation research in nursing practice to championing excellence in clinical practice—many Nigerian nurses have written their names on the sands of time and lifted our national banner high. I celebrate you all.
My firm commitment to you all remains this — we will build a New Nigeria where your hard work and sacrifices will never go unnoticed. We will invest in your education and training to ensure that you remain competitive on the global stage. Happy World Nurses Day to you all.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO

They mostly hate him online. Offline? They on their cameras when they see the celebrity.
He wows their entire existence. Reno Omokri is a busybody, he was only looking to trend. I thought he was given a portfolio to manage?
The man-child touching Peter Obi on the shoulder was an obvious sign of disrespect; it was a foolish gesture. He won’t do that to a Bola Ahmed Tinubu. But that’s by the way.
Peter Obi is not taken by platitudes. He is not your typical Nigerian politician. That man has never abused wealth, Eldership, position, nor power. He is not bothered by Reno’s obvious stupidity. The shame is reserved for he-goats.

Six-Point Agenda for Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency. As the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) @NigeriaNDCHQ for the House of Representatives, I will focus on the following six key priorities if given the ticket and elected.
1. Child Support and Protection.
I will immediately propose and sponsor a comprehensive Child Support Bill for children under 18 years. This legislation will ensure adequate legal protection, financial support, and welfare for children, particularly those from vulnerable and broken homes, to secure their future and reduce child poverty in our constituency and Nigeria.
2. Effective Representation and Voice of the People. I will serve as the authentic voice of Esan North East and Esan South East by consistently presenting the local needs, challenges, and aspirations of our people to the Federal Government. Through regular town halls, feedback mechanisms, and direct engagement, I will ensure that our constituency’s issues receive the attention and intervention they deserve at the national level.
3. Oversight and Accountability of Government Institutions. I will stand firm in scrutinizing the activities of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to promote accountability, transparency, and the proper implementation of the national budget. This will include exposing waste, corruption, and inefficiency while ensuring that projects and funds allocated to our federal constituency are fully executed.
4. Vocal Participation in National Budget Process. I will be very vocal and proactive in the review and approval of the annual national budget presented by the Executive. I will fight for increased allocations to critical sectors such as education, healthcare, roads, agriculture, and youth development, with specific benefits for Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency.
5. Active Committee Engagement and Legislative Work. I will actively participate in standing and special committees of the House to thoroughly examine bills, conduct investigations on national issues, and produce reports that serve the best interest of Nigerians. This will enable me to contribute meaningfully to quality law-making and problem-solving at the federal level.
6. Peace Building and Industrial Harmony. I will intervene in industrial disputes and labour-related conflicts while promoting sustainable peace within our constituency and across the nation. By fostering dialogue between stakeholders, government, and communities, I will help create a stable environment conducive to investment, economic growth, and harmonious coexistence.
This Six-Point Agenda will guide my legislative focus, ensuring I deliver effective representation, good governance, and tangible development to the people of Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency.
Together, we can build a better future.
