@MoxAether The high end, the problem is going to be that a lot of people are still reaching the skill level of forcing the draws so that is adding draw percentage points faster than the skill of avoiding draws is reducing it for now.

Something to think about. I know there's a lot of loud voices that spend a lot of time clowning on cEDH because of the draw rate. Yes the draw rate has gotten very high. However, just because some of those voices are

@mschmidt10k @NamelessMTG @PlayNiceMTG Do you see how many people are stealing Florian tech already as it is? You think I'd let Florian game play data get recorded? Hell no. Top secret!

Top 5 decks I would take to a Cedh Tournament if I was playing this weekend. 1. Rog/Ishai 2. Rog/Si 3. Tymna & Kraum 4. Thrasios & Kodoma 5. Malcom/Vial Smasher Bonus: Erinis & Street Urchin The top 2 decks I would choose are like a mile from anything else tbh

@LemorasCards You literally can't king make in 60/75 card formats so no, I don't think it's a better comparison.

@ThePfef if only there was a highly competitive way for 2 people to play Magic then we could compare cEDH draw rates to that instead of a totally different game

@MoxAether I think you can shave a few percentage points off the rate, but not solve it that way.

@ThePfef Do you think breaking through the parity gridlocks we commonly see that constitute to the high draw rate is something we can solve with social levers (politics/ mindset) or something that has to come from mechanical ones (card pool/ card optimizations) ?

@MoxAether IMHO we are looking for a 20-25% draw rate as a healthy number. Realistically we should be able to keep it under 30% most of the time, but the highest level of play is always going to be higher. The more optimal the play by all players the harder it is to break parity and win.

@ThePfef I dislike the chess comparison. You have 2 other players influencing outcomes and everyone has different pieces unless its literally the exact same list for all 4 players. You’re also a format with ideally 25% wr. What would an even a healthy draw rate look like?

@beer_and_mtg Because it's a 4-player free for all game with interaction. Draws or Kingmaking are inherent to that type of game. Period. The less available interaction the lower the draw rate. Is cEDH cEDH anymore if there's no interaction? Because that's the only way to eliminate draws.

@ThePfef Why do draws need to be part of the game. That’s precisely the conversation that’s happening. There’s no on-purpose draws anywhere else in magic, and cEDH is part of magic, solving the draw issue will make it more like magic than not. So there should be fundamental changes

solutions to reduce the draw rate, but I don't buy that the game is broken because of it, or that we need radical changes to fix it. Draws are part of this game, just like chess, and if that makes the game not fun for you, then maybe it's not the game you should be playing.

very loud, does not mean we have to warp the game in a futile effort to appease them. If you look at competitive chess, the higher the level of skill the higher the rate of draws, I'm reading a 70% draw rate at the highest levels of chess. We can and we should look for good
