Senate Republican Leader Thune handed Trump a bipartisan deal over the weekend. Fund everything except ICE now. Get TSA agents paid today. Handle ICE separately. Senate Republicans and Democrats said yes. Trump said no. Why? In a desperate attempt to force through the SAVE Act, a voter suppression bill that solves a problem that does not exist, Trump is holding your airport line hostage. His own Senate leader called that demand “not realistic.” Trump did not care. So instead of a deal, Trump threw a tantrum and unleashed ICE agents into airports. Zero screening training or TSA authority. Only making things worse. There is no dispute about funding TSA, the Coast Guard, or FEMA. We have been ready to do that since day one. What we will not do is write a blank check for an ICE agency that gunned down two American citizens in Minneapolis and still demands the right to kick down doors without a judge’s approval while hiding behind masks. Get TSA agents their paychecks. Agree to basic ICE accountability. We are ready to vote yes right now.
