This gang lured and gang-raped at knifepoint a young girl while they filmed it laughing. I will refer their sentences as unduly lenient - let’s see if this time the Government again says the rapists are too immature to receive stronger sentences. Who are these disgraceful judges? Judge Nicholas Rowland praised the boys for their conduct during the trial. “I think of you as very young and none of you have been in any big trouble before”

The British media do this deceptive thing where they add up all the jail sentences for members of a rape gang, and present it as a cumulative number -- 277 years. But that's for 20 different rapists who raped girls as young as 12 years old hundreds of times, over years. One of the reasons the judge gave such a disgustingly lenient sentence is because these boys were of too low intelligence to understand consent. They lured two different girls to go on a 'date', then raped them and filmed it while laughing and shared it online. But apparently the 'consent' bit was a touch tricky. Judge needs locking up with them.

When this first happened, Yvette Cooper seemed more interested in criticising the police and siding with the attackers than standing up for brave officers who get injured in the line of duty. This is just another example of Labour’s two-tier approach to law and order. The CPS must pursue a retrial and see this through.
