A purported confidential Gujarat Police document outlining a new anti-radicalisation framework has sparked concern among civil liberties activists and members of the Muslim community after it listed several routine Islamic religious practices and expressions of concern over global Muslim issues as possible indicators of “radicalisation.” The documents, marked “Secret” and said to have been issued by the Gujarat State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), surfaced on social media in recent days. Their authenticity has not been independently verified, and the Gujarat government has not publicly confirmed or denied the documents. According to the documents, the Gujarat Home Department approved the establishment of Anti-Radicalisation Cells (ARC) in every district and police commissionerate. A circular dated May 18, 2026, directs police units to implement a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and submit monthly reports on their activities. SOP Lists Religious Practices and Digital Behaviour The reported SOP defines radicalisation as a process in which individuals adopt extremist ideas and attempt to influence others. It instructs police to monitor behavioural, digital and community-related indicators. Among the listed indicators are frequent mosque visits, developing closer ties with religious groups, performing Itikaf during Ramadan, growing a beard, wearing a niqab, frequently using Arabic greetings, leaving education or employment for religious activities, expressing concern over incidents affecting Muslims globally, discussing conflicts in Afghanistan or the Middle East, using encrypted messaging applications such as Signal or VPN services, and maintaining online contact with individuals in Afghanistan. The document also includes possession or sharing of Islamic State propaganda, such as Dabiq and Rumiyah, alongside these indicators. Shabnam Hashmi Calls for Government Accountability Human rights activist @ShabnamHashmi described the reported SOP as “state-sponsored communal profiling” and urged political parties and civil society to take up the issue. There was no Hajj subsidy ever in Indian history. Just last year (2025), Indian Muslim Hajj and Umrah pilgrims contributed ₹174 billion (₹17,400 crore) to the Indian aviation industry, all white halal money. That so-called Hajj subsidy was essentially the Indian govt inflating state-controlled airfares and then portraying partial reductions as a subsidy. In reality, it served as an indirect mechanism to keep Air India afloat through govt-backed payments.
Saba kaul.🇮🇳@sabakaul1

In India, I'm living in a Hindu-majority country where a Muslim can go on Hajj and a Christian can go to Jerusalem peacefully with government subsidy. But a Hindu needs Z+ security protection to go to the Indian Temple. Where on Earth would this happen? And you Leftist say the minority is under threat ? Muslims are not safe in India?

Update 🚨in Shehna murder case. Shehna’s hindu “lover” turns out to be an RSS karyakarta. He murdered her & sat beside her body yet @TheKeralaPolice gave him a clean chit. Kerala's Muslim community which dances in Onam & eats Sadhya at temples has been silent on this issue.

India's Constitution was built on a simple idea: if you're born here, you belong. Dr Niraja Jayal argues that principle is being quietly reversed — from a "presumption of citizenship" to a "presumption of alienage." Foreigner until proven otherwise. Under the Citizenship Act of 1955, if your citizenship is questioned, the burden of proof lies on the state — not you. So why are ordinary Indians being asked to prove they belong? sharjeel imam isn’t as palatable to the liberal masses as umar khalid because he didn’t evoke gandhian principles in his speeches. this isn’t a critique of umar. but this is why i feel sharjeel is often overlooked along with many other political prisoners.

#SOS: To every Indian, Things are looking grimmer by the day. I don’t know how much longer Sonam sir can hold on. He keeps telling us he can. But those of us sitting beside him are terribly worried. This is a man who could have chosen a life of comfort and recognition. Instead, the recipient of a Ramon Magsaysay Award, an honour equivalent to the Nobel Prize, is putting his own life at risk for the future of our children, the young, and this country. He sits for those dead students murdered by a broken, corrupt education system. He is sacrificing his body and maybe his life for a greater cause. It makes me think what does it say about US that a son of India, who brought us such great honour before the world, has to STARVE himself to death simply to be heard by his OWN government? This is not my idea of India. This is not India! Somewhere along the way, we stopped feeling. We began to accept silence when there should have been outrage, indifference where there should have been compassion. We have become spectators to suffering. We have convinced ourselves that someone ELSE will speak, someone ELSE will act. I have no words left. I am sorry sir. We are failing you. We are failing you by allowing a nation to reach a point where a man of your integrity and stature must gamble with his own life just to make those in power LISTEN. We are failing you because we normalised arrogance over empathy. We normalised power over compassion. And we normalised indifference over conscience. July 20 is our last attempt to save you. If we cannot stand up now, history will not ask what Sonam Wangchuk did for India. It will ask what India did when Sonam Wangchuk needed her.

22 Kashmiris were martyred for completing one Azaan. July 13, 1931 is a crucial and highly contested turning point in Kashmir’s history. On this day, Dogra state forces fired on unarmed protesters outside the Central Jail in Srinagar, killing 22 Muslim men who had gathered in opposition to the autocratic rule of Maharaja Hari Singh. The tragic incident occurred as a huge crowd waited for the trial of Abdul Qadir (also known as Abdul Qadir Khan), who had been arrested for delivering a speech inciting resistance against the administration. When the time for Zuhr (the afternoon prayer) arrived, one of the demonstrators stood up to give the azaan (the Islamic call to prayer). The Dogra police immediately shot him down. One after another, other protesters stepped forward to complete the azaan, and before the azaan was finished, 22 men had been killed, each shot sequentially as they tried to finish the call to prayer.
