The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has expressed concern over alleged interference by government appointees in chieftaincy disputes, stressing that political power is temporary and must not undermine traditional authority.
Speaking at an Asanteman Council meeting, he cited tensions in the Sampa chieftaincy dispute in the Bono Region Ghana, accusing some officials of disregarding court rulings in favour of Nana Samgba Gyafla II.
