Just finished writing this, topping out at ~220,000w and ~450 images. It's essentially a comprehensive overview of German bomber development during WW2, including all the unbuilt projects, all the blind alleys, all the arguments, all the backstabbing and all the tech.

Buy this book, Dan follows the same research methodolgy I use and it is so simple it remains somehow bereft of prizes, 1) Read all the archive information 2) See what it says 3) Put it in the book This book will undoubtedly make many people who have ideas based on reading books written by people who have never bothered reading all the German Air Ministry stenographic records furious, as it may reveal all sorts of inconvenient facts. @TheRealDanSharp is a criminally under-rated historian and researcher, and the best his critics can come up with on forums is that he writes so much that it cant possibly be correct. @feelgood_doktor When you have access to company documents, Luftwaffe documents and RLM documents, you get a fully rounded picture of what was happening, which wasn't available to those who were actually there. The picture that emerges is somewhat different to the 'traditional' history.

@pehlke_rainer It's three times longer and with twice as many images. And the three-times-longer text is all new. And all the hundreds of primary sources used are fully cited.

@AlanGuerzoni That game inspired me to read German projects books in the early 1990s but they were pretty vague and contradictory. Years later, I thought it'd be fun to see if I could find the original German wartime documents and work out the truth for myself. Hence this, and my other, books.

@AeroPaleo @wildbluejester The writing of it was pretty linear tbh. But the doctrine which many historians seem to think informed or even dictated bomber development actually went out the window almost as soon as WW2 began and never came back. The consequences of that are evident throughout the book.

@OnDisasters I think nearly all of the designs featured could have been made to work. The fantasy element is how long they would've taken to develop.

I had a book on the subject a few years ago. I recall that some of the designs were pure fantasy

@wildbluejester Volume 1 was quite focused, with a build-up as the war progresses. Volume 2 is sort of the opposite - it starts out very focused before going round in circles, stalling, then collapsing.
