@blurrrgh @gummibear737 Counterpoint: in 2019, Ukraine’s NATO ambitions were at most wishful thinking. 🇷🇺 objected to Ukraine joining the EU & its political influence etc. Also, Zelensky took power 5 years after 🇷🇺 first annexed Crimea. NATO is an excuse for Putin; this was about power and influence.

Russia has no desire or ability to attack Europe
They’ve always been clear that Georgia & Ukraine were red lines regarding NATO expansion
No powerful country would accept its closest neighbor being brought into a hostile military alliance, a hostile superpower funding & supplying a dozen spy bases on its border etc

Let me explain for the average person why negotiations over Ukraine matter
1) If they don’t craft a solid peace settlement that prevents further Russian aggression, a war between Europe and Russia will eventually ensue
2) The US will 100% be drawn into this war
3) Risk of WW3

@Harrods - Absolutely shocking customer service. You appear to have put the billing address postcode on a Christmas present delivery and instead of issuing a replacement, I’ve now got to wait for a refund & place a new order. Surprise from the ‘world’s most luxurious dept store’.

@elonmusk No idea if it is spent well, or properly audited, but short answer to your question is because America doesn’t operate in a vacuum and in theory gets a serious ROI from spending that money. Calling it for to be suspended is naive, as is assuming it is all good VFM.

@ZiaYusufUK Trump did this because it’s good politics & supprts his pitch as a challenger to the establishment/far left. Chances of it actually affecting the UK/US relationship if Trump wins are nil. Trump is transactional & will be friends with the UK gov if it suits his/American interests.

The Trump campaign has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against the “far-left Labour Party” for foreign election interference.
If Trump wins, Starmer and his student politician Cabinet will have done more damage to the special relationship than any British government in our lifetimes.

@BonJoviTalk Love KTF - is a 10. Not a bad song on the whole album. Blame it on the love… is too much like Sleep when I’m Dead, but otherwise it’s pretty flawless. The last few tracks are album tracks rather than singles, but it’s up there with These Days as one of their best two imo…

Save A Prayer is an unbelievable song.
I don't think there's a 'bad' song on the album, necessarily. But the second half just brings my overall rating down that the first half had.

Biggest issue facing the Tories is how they appeal to their base, but pull in floating / centrist voters at a GE. Last Gov swung too far right for many, but not right enough for Reform types. Pity the leader trying to square that circle.

@GuidoFawkes True, but they almost certainly need to be a fair bit ahead of Labour given way electoral system currently works against them and that means appealing to at least some centre ground voters. Being Reform light is a recipe for losing albeit less badly

@AdrianEdmondson I’ve never laughed so much as when I first heard “Give me another drink Mr. Bartender, if you don’t I’m gonna stick your #*^% in a blender”. Absolute genius. Covered it at band rehearsals (we weren’t as good as Bad News). We need a campaign for ‘Cashing in’ as Xmas No.1!

Pro tip for builders / trades - giving a price exclusive of VAT is only useful if your client can reclaim the VAT. For everyone else, it’s like finding out something that already looks expensive is even more expensive than you thought.
