The 14th Amendment clause on "citizenship" has two parts. Here is the entirety of the text: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." 1. Born or naturalized AND 2. Subject to the jurisdiction thereof... If being physically born inside the U.S. was all that was needed, the second phrase would be superfluous. The Supreme Court has always held that no phrases in the Constitution are superfluous. Being born within the boundaries of the US is not enough. So what else is required??? Those opposing the Trump Admin EO say "The language is clear" and not much more. Because they know debating the language and looking at the relevant case law is not helpful for their cause.

@WadeMiller @jaybakeraz That is not a legal distinction. Jurisdiction is not about allegiance. Jurisdiction determines what a governmental entity can do to you, not your relationship with it. A court has jurisdiction over ypu (or not) regardless of whether you feel allegiance to it. So silly.

Native Americans were excluded because they were seen as not being under the political jurisdiction of the United States given they owed their political allegiance to their tribe/nation. You know who else doesn’t fall under the political jurisdiction of the United States? Those who are here illegally and who still owe their political allegiance to their country of origin.

This is correct. The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction of" was meant to exclude the children of foreign diplomats, enemy soldiers, and native Americans. Everyone else born on US soil would be (and is) a citizen.

I hope you will read this. Every time I try to educate people about Candace Owens’s base — many of them are normie moms — I get lectures from people who don’t do what I do: spend hours every day tracking these matters and collecting data; instead, they go off their vibes. I have found establishment Republicans, including some in MAGA, and progressives most dismissive of this reality — all based on vibes and not facts. Candace Owens has built a massive, dedicated viewership who see her as a leader and a partner in seeking the truth. Many of them see her as the singular choice for taking on “the elite narratives” (this often ends up leading back to American Jewry, Israel). Here are two moms in Nebraska who show up to a wrestling match both wearing one of her sweatshirts from the “Candace Intelligence Agency” line. This is in the Midwest; one of these women owns a construction company. Think this is anecdotal? I have, quite literally, thousands of photos and videos saved over the last two years of Candace fans sharing her work and praising her. I have spoken (largely through DM) with many. These aren’t weirdo basement dwellers; they’re not antisocial; they’re just average Americans. Candace’s normie mom base includes homeschool moms, moms who drop their kids off at school, but it also includes a diverse coalition with respect to race, gender, political ideology, sexual orientation, and religious identity, and they are also geographically diverse. And they’re all being radicalized at a level you wouldn’t begin to imagine is possible. Maybe instead of making assumptions and going off feelings and vibes, listen to and trust the people who spend over 12 hours a day speaking to these people, keeping track of the data, the reach, and who understand why this is happening.

I just took an Acela, NYC to Boston, rather than the standard train. It is usually much more expensive than the train I usually take, but I got a deal on the ticket. Due to the price point it attracts a different demographic. The whole train seemed to be filled with passengers raised in the US. There were no bare feet or sneakers on seats, no loud phones, no loud conversations, no confrontations, no one piling their possessions on empty seats to claim a whole row, no one pushing physically past anyone, no one creeping visibly at young women. I did ask a gentleman to turn down his music a bit and he apologized profusely and did so. I did not fear an escalation of that exchange. It all felt incredibly safe, peaceful, nonviolent, relaxing and civilized …for four full hours. Am I a terrible person?

ACIP’s vote to END the CDC’s recommendation of Hep B shots for all babies at birth is absolutely the right decision. But we still need to take away all vaccine requirements for children to attend school and other activities. Parents need the right to decline vaccines if they choose to without being punished by pediatricians and their children being refused attendance of any school or entity.
