@TSoS_ Cinematic Universe stories are a dead concept. Star Wars never exploited it fully even though it might have been the easiest IP to do so

Been thinking about this a lot 😭 Brave new World and Mandalorian & Grogu both feel like legacy sequels to 2008 movies audience already didn't like. In turn, they too were poorly received. Really feels like the end of line for uninspired, boring franchise sequels in a hollowed out media landscape that no longer has any creative ideas.
YungJunko@YungJunko

I think its funny that this is the 2nd year in a row Disney has released a film that follows up on characters and plot threads from a movie that came out when I was like in 5th grade

@Schizointel Alot of military estimates over the past decade or so had us losing like 100 combat fighters at least from an armed conflict with Iran plus saying potential for losing a supercarrier.

We have lost 42 aircraft of which 24 are drones so that leaves us with 18 manned aircraft losses. Out of these three were friendly fire and 7 were from the rescue operation of the F-15E that was shot down over Iran. 24 aircraft losses spread out across over 10,200 air sorties striking over 13,000 individual targets. With nearly 40% of the aircraft lost from a single event, I don't think that's a sign of US power decline in the slightest.
Phillips P. OBrien@PhillipsPOBrien

Just sent out this post. US losses across the board fighting Iran, but particularly involving aircraft, are revealing worrying signs that US military efficiency is in decline and not what it was. The loss rates are many times higher than Vietnam and Desert Storm. A fish rots from the head down.

@theocho48 @Shakadelik61569 @CFBKings Conferences have never been equal to each other in cfb. Especially now with consolidation and the destruction of regional conferences. I would agree with idea if we had the conference makeups of the late 1900s or early 2000s

One of the biggest flaws (of which there are many) in the expansionist’s argument is the comparison to other sports. “The NFL lets 44% of their teams in!” “The NBA has a big playoffs bracket!” “The FCS has 24 teams, let’s copy that!” “The NFL gets more viewers, so…” “College Basketball lets lower seeds in they have Cinderellas!” Why don’t all these people go watch those then? They’re literally pointing out all the alternatives that they could go freely partake in. But instead it’s “we have to make the last unique sport look like all these other sports that people could simply go watch instead.” Why does CFB have to change? The expansionists should be the ones changing. Change sports and go watch any of those formats you clearly prefer.

@CFBKings Fans don't want expansion simply to make CFB like other sports. They want expansion for the same season they have for decades: easier to control your own destiny and less likely to get shafted by a committee.

Have you ever wondered what Alabama’s OC/DC pairings have looked like over the years since Nick Saban’s arrival in 2007? If so, here it is in one picture. What are your thoughts? Which pairing was the best in your opinion? 🤔

College football has committed itself to transitioning from being a completely unique and fun alternative to the NFL with its own character to being a shitty NFL knock off that dispenses with all that was great about CFB and replaces it with none of what is great about the NFL

A 24-team College Football Playoff format would be disastrous for College Football. In 2018, if a 24-team CFP format existed, it would have included SIX 4-loss teams and even 5-LOSS Northwestern as an at-large bid… That Northwestern team lost to 4-8 Akron at home, lost to Duke by 14, and lost to all three of the Top 15 teams they faced. That is who people are currently arguing should make the Playoff. The regular season would be annihilated, bowl season would be finished, losing wouldn’t matter, making the CFP wouldn’t even be an accomplishment, and all for what? To watch these teams get smoked by the real contenders? College Football is not College Basketball. College Football is not the NFL. College Football is not the NBA/NHL/MLB. The enormous implications of each Saturday during the REGULAR SEASON is part of what makes our sport so great. The coaches on the AFCA Board who voted to support expanding the playoff to 24 basically just gave the middle finger to each fan, because they’re literally rooting for CFB to become a watered-down, corporatized NFL Jr. and a shell of its former self.

Nobody would debate the talent has been spread out now and schools can’t stockpile depth the way they once could, but did Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, Texas, USC, LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Penn State, Oklahoma, Clemson, Miami etc not have those same baked in advantages?
Ralph D. Russo@ralphDrussoATH

Good column. Saban has a blind spot for this. He capitalized on a system where Alabama had all kinds of baked in advantages over the competition. Now, he did so in an unprecedented way and Bama wasn't the only school that had those advantages. He was best at optimizing them.

@NM_CBUS @Clowfb If the SEC had this advantage that no other conference had why didnt Urban Meyer blew the whistle at Ohio State, Les Miles at Kansas, or Bobby Petrino at Louisville? They could have toppled it down years before

My grandfather heard this after Wallace Wade left. My father heard it after Frank Thomas retired. I heard it after Coach Bryant retired. My son is hearing it since Saban stepped down. Never forget, the lowest IQ journalism is sports journalism. Generationally stupid people.

So dramatic😂 IU kicked our teeth in. All Bama fans share this view. Simpson said how flawless their defense was in the Rose Bowl. Crazy this stuff has gotten so many riled up. IU will be a contender as long as Cignetti is there. Hopefully Bama keeps growing under DeBoer.
Nick Rodecap@NickRodecap

Prior to the Rose Bowl, an Alabama reporter asked Curt Cignetti about the “Bama mystique.” With a straight face. I don’t think Tide fans or media can handle that they’re not invincible anymore. They expect everyone to worship the ground they walk on. Such an odd group. #iufb

Well it looks like the Pope’s interference in American politics is still top of the news cycle, so I want to repeat something. The Democrat/Media Complex deliberately set this up so faithful Catholics would be forced to choose: Trump or your faith? That’s a false dichotomy. The Pope is speaking on politics, offering his opinion only and he is not speaking ex cathedra. You are not obligated to agree with the Pope in these matters where he speaks as an ordinary human. If you are a Catholic, you can still support Trump, and disagree with what the Pope is saying about the Iran War and American politics, and still remain true to your Catholic faith. Please do not fall for the either/or con job.
