Many warned me, cautioned me, and were even concerned for my safety while I was reporting on the Bandi Bageerath POCSO case. As anticipated, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay, filed a defamation suit in the Vacation Bench of the City Civil Court, Hyderabad. I am one among 100 others who reported on this very important issue. Three of my tweets have been mentioned in the defamation suit. His counsel requested that these 100 odd links be removed from all social media platforms. The defamation suit is for Rs 1 crore. Bandi Sai Bageerath, son of Union Minister X, was implicated in a POCSO case involving a 17 year old minor. He absconded for almost nine days before finally getting arrested/surrendered. He is currently at the Cherlapally Central Prison, Hyderabad. For almost three days, all major legacy media companies were mum on the issue. Not a word, not even a breaking/ scroll was aired. The entire issue got highlighted only because social media spoke about it. Now Union Minister garu is very upset that he couldn’t control the narrative on social media. To all those who fought on this issue and got rewarded by the defamation suit, you were doing the right thing. Those who took money and ran paid campaigns about the victim’s age to sharing her private videos to churning out sick stories on a 17 year old child - shame on you. I hope you never have children or women in your lives. If you are a woman who did it, I have no words for you.✌🏽 I hope the victim gets justice 🙏🏽

Sometimes people outside the field say things like “The AI situation can’t be that bad, there must be experts who are on top of it”. As “an expert”, I would like to be clear that we are *not* on top of it. Some key aspects of the situation IMO:

Protocol Turned Upside Down: Marco Rubio, after arriving in New Delhi, bypassed the standard diplomatic protocol. Normally, a visiting foreign minister first holds substantive, working-level bilateral talks with the host foreign minister, where the actual negotiations and heavy lifting occur. Only afterward does the visiting minister “call on” the head of government — a largely ceremonial meeting meant to convey leadership messages, provide photo-ops and formally endorse what was already discussed with the counterpart. Yet Rubio went straight to Prime Minister Modi for detailed discussions that reportedly stretched for over an hour, with the Indian foreign minister and national security adviser also present. The courtesy call effectively became the principal forum for deliberations.

Dogs did not create the violence of abandonment, urban neglect, starvation, abuse and broken systems. Humans did. Yet it is always the animal that stands trial for surviving the world we made.

Between 2014 and 2024, nearly one lakh government schools closed down. It has hampered the enrollment of children. To make things worse, more than 98000 schools in the country do not have functional girls' toilets while 61,500 don't have any usable toilet. 1.19 lakh schools are still without functional electricity. And there are over a lakh  schools in the country running with a single teacher. These findings from a recent Niti Ayog report should have been all over our news channels. Instead, we are busy obsessing over a toffee and then castigating a Norwegian journalist who was actually doing her job

Sorry, but the only thing that needs introspection is this behavior right here in this tweet of reducing a country to crude stereotypes and insulting an entire nation and its people over visa rules.

China's chip exports are surging: China's chip exports jumped +100% YoY in April, to a record ~$31 billion. This figure has TRIPLED over the last 2 years. At the same time, overseas sales of laptops, tablets, and their components jumped +47% YoY. Goldman Sachs and Nomura estimate that semiconductors, computers, and other AI-related products accounted for ~50% of China's export growth last month. In total, Chinese exports rose +14% YoY in April, to $359 billion, the highest monthly reading on record. Put differently, Chinese companies were generating ~$500 million in export revenue every hour on average last month. China's economy is evolving with AI.

This is why data centers are coming to India because they are facing this push back back home. Here the people and the government don't care if the water is that color or poisonous as long as they can hate and discriminate against minorities.
