THIS DAY IN METAL
THIS DAY IN METAL@ThisDayInMETAL·
On This Day in Metal July 13, 1984 Eddie Van Halen made a surprise guest appearance with Michael Jackson during The Jacksons’ Victory Tour at Texas Stadium in Dallas, Texas. He stepped onstage to perform the legendary guitar solo for “Beat It,” marking the one and only time these two music icons ever performed the song together live. A truly unforgettable moment in rock and pop history. #ThisDayInMetal #EddieVanHalen #VanHalen #MichaelJackson #BeatIt

@MetalHammer Just because an album comes down at the bottom of the rankings doesn't mean it's woeful you could a lot of bands have awesome albums but they're just better albums. Something someone's got to be at the bottom.

He found out that Rudy sarzo tried to make me look bad last year when I educated him on a story that Grover Jackson end up validating, which is that Randy Rhoads lost it on Jake Duncan and Sharon for not paying him right before the start of the Madman tour. But Rudy thought it was a good idea to try to make me look bad, not realizing that I know more than him.

It appears Jizzy Pearl has quit Quiet Riot: “Hey Everyone I have decided to leave Quiet Riot. I will continue to fulfill all scheduled dates within my contractual obligations. As the old cliche says "I am moving on to new creative pursuits and projects." Things happen when they're supposed to happen. I wish the QR guys all the best-That's it! Thanks!”

"Mr. Crowley" is one of the most iconic songs from Ozzy Osbourne's first solo album, Blizzard of Ozz, released in 1980. The song is inspired by Aleister Crowley, a 20th-century British occultist, magician, and writer known as one of the most controversial figures of his time. Ozzy was always fascinated by Crowley and his world of the occult. The lyrics are a sort of ironic and mysterious reflection on Crowley’s life, directly asking him what was going through his mind, whether he spoke with the dead, and what his true power was. It is neither a defense nor a condemnation, but rather a curious observation of his legacy. The music was composed primarily by Randy Rhoads, the brilliant guitarist. It begins with a dark, atmospheric piano before exploding into a heavy riff and a spectacular guitar solo that has become one of the most memorable in rock. The song generated a lot of controversy at the time because it reinforced the accusations of Satanism against Ozzy, although he always clarified that he was only interested in the mystery and history of Crowley, without practicing any kind of black magic.

@PnutJames @historyrock_ I did watch it occasionally when I went to my mom's house which is another bad sign that she would have it on and she hated that guy when I was a kid. So at that point I knew Ozzy had jumped the shark from metal icon to celebrity.

@TheRockOracle1 @historyrock_ Did you watch "The Osbournes" when they jumped on the reality tv bandwagon? Its sounds like you didnt. The man on stage is not the man in his living room recliner. He even says so in the documentary he made after that kid suicided himself. I may be an Ozzy sheep, as you say....

I run Randy Rhoads Facebook group and we delve into this stuff all the time and it pisses off the Ozzy fans. Ozzy absolutely signed off on the re-recording of those two albums. His quote is in the press release. Now Sharon may have orchestrated it and executed on it but they both did those guys wrong. She didn't rework them. She simply had Robert Trujillo and Mike Borden re-record what she thought were re-recording but the problem is they played to the wrong beat and so they sound horrible. If you listen to ear plugs and actually Max Norman got into this, he refused to participate in it and because he was the only one aware of how Randy multitracked solos and that they went in a certain sequence. Randy solos on those reworked albums or remastered as they called them. Sound awful. In fact, there's a lawsuit that a fan filed against the record label and The Osbournes for misrepresenting what the remastered albums were. No they didn't sue her for that. They couldn't. The fan backlash is what led them to capitulate and reinstate The originals because it was so obvious it had been re-recorded with the bass and the rhythm because Bob and Lee didn't use a click track and they were not playing to Randy who was always on the beat. They had sued her and Ozzy prior to that and that was their response was to rework those albums to screw them over. What Bob and Lee were suing for were of course the back payments and then they were going to get Don Arden to reveal that it was a band and they were four equal members until Sharon emotionally blackmailed Donn...

@TheRockOracle1 @bobbydevito @historyrock_ Heres another issue: remember when Sharon got pissed that ppl were still getting paid off the 1st 2 albums, so she "reworked" them, so that Kerslake, & Daisley wouldnt get any more royalties? That confuses a lot of ppl, too. They had to sue her to get their money, & names back on
