The 6'5 Samoan wing is arguably the best defender in his high school class and will be highly sought after as a free agent.

Professional sports are not college sports. The pirates lose every year and still make money. Pitt basketball DEPENDS on its fans to fund their roster. Nobody supports Capel and co and it's been demonstrated by attendance. If Pitt hoops shows promise the money will pour in for them.

@JV_PITT So wrong on so many levels. Winning is the best remedy? What has Jeff Capel won? It's quite literally the AD's job to have their finger on the pulse. Nobody attends the games and program support is at an all time low. Where do you think they get money from?

@TheScript412 Nor should he. GM and AD should not care about that. Winning is the best remedy to the fan base. What Greene is looking at is guys like Dunning and Roman and adding next years class to that.

Used to be a perennial Top 10 team.
Now they are bringing back a coach who has made the NCAA Tournament 1 times in 8 years.

Jeff Capel has reached the tournament once in 8 seasons at Pitt. Between VCU, Oklahoma and Pitt he's been to the dance 4 times in 17 seasons.
Was an assistant for Coach K, tho.

JUST IN: Jeff Capel will return to Pitt next season, a source confirmed to CBS Sports. It was trending this way this week. Capel would've been owed more than $12 million if fired this season. He'll be back for a ninth year. Has one NCAAT trip in the past eight with the Panthers.

Something I pointed out in an article I wrote yesterday.
“Pitt averaged 5,742 fans per home game this season. The Pete sat at 45.9 percent capacity — the lowest of the Capel era and the second-lowest all-time at the Pete. The building reached 32.9 percent capacity in 2017-18 when Pitt went 0-18 in the ACC under Kevin Stallings.”
The appetite rapidly declined this season for Pitt basketball. I don’t foresee it getting any better with Capel back in 2026-27.
