Retired cop here 🚔 The M-16 has been prohibited in Canada for decades and has never been a civilian-legal firearm. There is no record of M-16s being used in Canadian mass shootings. AR-15s are not a documented driver of mass shootings in Canada. Past attacks involved different firearms, not AR-platform rifles. This is fear-based politics, not evidence-based policy. I would urge you and your government to end this ideological policy and focus limited resources where they actually matter: securing the border and dismantling organized crime networks bringing guns in from the U.S.
