🏀💭 “If the ball you’re practicing with isn’t at the right PSI you’re preparing for a game you’re never going to play.” – Justin Brandt
Too often, athletes grind through practice with underinflated or overinflated basketballs. That means the bounce, the feel, and even your shot mechanics don’t translate when the lights come on.
With the TorrX Smart Pump, players, coaches, and trainers can make sure every ball is at the perfect PSI—every practice, every game. Because preparation is everything. 🔋⚡️

Test update!
Recently, we started the sensitivity review for the RIOT. A sensitivity review is a procedure in which a group of experts from different demographic backgrounds examine the items to identify any potential problematic wording, stimuli, or formats that might disadvantage any subgroup of examinees.
The experts conducting this sensitivity review are independent of the test creators and serve as extra "pairs of eyes" that review every candidate item for the test. They make suggestions for revising problematic items and can make recommendations for deleting items or changing subtests. Their work is an important step to ensuring that all examinees are treated fairly and respectfully while taking the RIOT.
Sensitivity reviews are required for a test to meet the Standards for Educational and Professional Testing established by @AERA_EdResearch, @APA, and the National Council for Measurement in Education. The RIOT team is committed to meeting all relevant standards for professionally developed tests.

While you're traveling this Thanksgiving weekend, check out this newly released interview with RIOT's Chief Scientist, @Russwarne.
The interviewer, Dr. Philip Davies (Bournemouth University) runs a YouTube channel where he interviews experts from the sciences and humanities. It's a cool channel, and we're that Dr. Davies has taken an interest in human intelligence. 🧠
In the interview, Dr. Davies discuss the genetic and environmental influences on intelligence, culture and IQ, the educational consequences of intelligence differences, demographics, and more. It's an interesting interview that's worth your time!

Matrix reasoning items, like this one, are popular for measuring fluid intelligence. In fact, some intelligence researchers have claimed that a test (Raven's Matrices) consisting of these items is as pure of a measure of intelligence as possible.
However, when @GillesEGignac compared it head-to-head with other measures of intelligence, the Raven's was not a pure measure of intelligence. There are other tests that measures intelligence as well or better than the Raven's.
In this 2016 study of archival data, other tests, such as arithmetic and vocabulary were better measures of general intelligence.
This isn't to say that matrix tests were bad measures of intelligence, in fact, they perform a little better than average.
Rather than looking for one idea task to measure intelligence, the best option is to use a wide variety of tasks and to calculate a composite IQ score based on them. That's what intelligence test creators have been doing for over a century, and it is still best practice today.

We started a Youtube channel to post about the RIOT + intelligence research as we build it out. The title of the video may be misconstrued as a launch announcement. We want to clarify we are not quite done yet. Please hold on a couple more months for v1! youtu.be/jXbwvPqzu3E
