I posted the post below earlier. It is very wrong. I somehow did not know that an immediate fill on GTC was the same as a take. Common sense now. I need to thank @fLabberizmad because this is the first thing I've learned on X about polymarket I didnt already know. So goes without saying, ignore this post (previous post just for reference... again ignore it) 1 easy trick to make every PolyMarket bot better All bots have to buy and sell. There is some confusion sometimes to the order types. GTC (a limit order that is good to close) FAK (a market order, fill and kill) FOK(a market order, fill OR kill) Both market orders, for crypto and some sports, cost fees. Its a quadriatic curve, so very small at 1-99 and heaviest at 50c. GTC orders are market makers, meaning you provide liquidity because the orders sit on the books. BUT you can make your GTC behave just like a FOK/FAK When you place a FAK/FOK or a GTC you place it with a max price you're willing to pay with a share calculator, this gives it maximum slippage. But both buy from the bottom up, meaning cheapest shares first. So here is the trick. If you need an instant buy, ie hedge or snipe or something. 99% of the time you can still do a GTC order. You just place it at 99c. So a GTC order at 99c, will always eat the cheapest shares first. So if the market is at 62 c, and you place a GTC order at 99c it will fill at 62, 61, 63 etc... whatever is available on the books. The exact same as a FOK/FAK order. So basically by switching the limits price and order type, you save fees on every bot you have.

Speed is the #1 most important thing to optimize in Polymarket Bots The CLOB api places the order. Its a first in first out game. It takes roughly 4ms for it to process but it processes them in series. So what matters is the time that your bot sees the trade, to when you trade it has to be as low as possible. EVERYTHING matters with speed. Your order placement, toxic fills, getting the price you want, hedging without losing in a falling market, siping, price parity, seeing movements on every tick. Short of a "buy before window opens, and hold" strategy. Every bot gets better with faster speed. So the first thing you should do, is make your bot as fast as you can. The limits of physics, ie the speed of light, is 6.31ms from amazons web servers in ireland to the CLOB that places the order. Guess how fast my bots go...

You cannot use AI to backtest. Period. It is 100% inaccurate. Not kinda, not a little. COMPLETELY. It does one thing. Looks at price at strike, price at end. Thats it. Does a little math... boom "Youre a Genius with a 81% WR!!" No, you're not. Latency, other players actions, book depth, fill rates, adverse fills, missed hedges... all bullshit. Follow. I'm going to breakdown how to actually backtest over the next week or two. Currently my backtest and my live trading is within 3%.

1. Software Everyone says Rust Rust Rust. Rust is for HFT on stock markets. You cannot use it on polymarket with any more success than Python. The reason, polymarket CLOB (their websocket) has a 20ms processing delay off chainlink. You MIGHT save 0.5 ms in processing an order, but polymarket takes 40ms round trip.. stupid. Plus you can presign orders etc... that removes that. VPNs. you cannot do any latency trading if you are using a vpn. If you live in america, UK etc... you must use a deployed server in a non geo-fenced area... ie montreal, ireland etc. But that only removes latency plays, all others work, and there are only really 2 anywyas. So thats it... you just use python like the rest of all the traders winning on polymarket... youre welcome

We backtested the "always buy BTC UP at 9 AM ET (market open)" strategy on Polymarket's 15-minute markets over the last month. - 22 trading days - 81.8% win rate (18 wins / 4 losses) Overall, very profitable.
