Could have been my great-grandpa from Poland. And he could have been sent there by my other great-grandpa from Austria. I wonder what they would have said to each other and talked about when their kids married in the US (my grandparents).

On April 1, 1940, Pres. Manuel Quezon authorized the printing of the Dictionary and Grammar of the National Language. Earlier in 1937, Quezon constituted the Institute of National #Language. They recommended the adoption of #Tagalog as basis for lingua franca. #FilipinoHistorian
