#Toronto hands out ~2.15 million parking tickets a year.
That's around $100M pulled straight out of drivers' pockets. 😳 And when people actually fight them? 40% get knocked down because the signs are that confusing.
So the system isn't catching dangerous parkers. It's catching regular people who couldn't decode a stacked sign in 8 seconds.
I got tired of it. So I built Yax.
It does two things nothing else in the city does:
1- Snap any sign. Get a plain-English answer in seconds. Tap once and it reads it out loud so you don't have to stare at your phone in the rain ✨

Care homes aren’t guaranteed, only around 3–4% of older adults are in one at any point. And inheritance tax has allowances: £325k basic threshold + £175k main residence allowance if the home goes to your kids. So saying don’t pay off your house is wild. If you think like that, you might as well just rely on giro. Build assets, don’t fear them. Important to know the facts from chit chat.

My British 🇬🇧 colleagues at work laugh at me each time I say I want to buy a house and pay off on time.. They ask me if I intend to live here when I’m old and I said to them that it’s a possibility. They told me that “what is the point of working so hard to pay off a house that the government can repossess if at some point I need to use the care home?” They said “what is the point of paying off a house that I cannot transfer to my kids without them paying inheritance tax” They encouraged me to “get a mortgage and choose the longest repayment plan, pay as little as a I can per month, enjoy the house as much as I want, but never think of paying it off” If this is how an average UK 🇬🇧 citizen thinks, then I believe they know what we don’t know. What is your opinion about this???

I once got beaten in primary school. When my mum came to pick me, my teacher reported it. We got home…..and she beat me again.
Then she said, “Tomorrow, make sure you beat that person well. Nobody should bully you.”
Clear instruction. Strong backing. Next day, I went to school with purpose. I didn’t just fight……I fought like I had sponsorship.
By the time I finished, it was not one person again. It was two. After school, report reached home.
We got back…..and I received another beating.
“Why did you go and disgrace me in school?” Till today, I don’t know the lesson.

Crazy how quickly red incandescents put people to sleep, especially children.

Why is it so expensive to travel from Canada to the U.S., which is basically our backyard? A round trip from Toronto to Dallas is over $858, yet I can do four different flights from Buffalo to multiple cities and still spend about the same.
At this point, I will just quietly drive to Buffalo and start my vacation from there 🙄🤨

This H-1B worker has lived in the US for nearly 20 years and built a family here. His mom was dying in India. To visit her, he would need to wait months to book a consular appointment--with the soonest one available likely being scheduled one year out. He made the difficult choice of not visiting his dying mom because leaving without an appointment would mean separation from his children, job, and his other obligations. Much of the commentary around immigration focuses on how such bureaucratic burdens undermine immigrants’ ability to contribute and innovate. But we must remember that this red tape also prevents these people from being fully engaged with their own lives and meaningfully present in the lives of others. This matters too, and these seemingly non-economic problems will eventually translate into economic costs.
