I thought the first one was very average even though almost everyone I knew adored it and saw it like five times. I heard this one “wasn’t that good,” but I was extremely invested and emotional and thought it was a thousand times better? Maybe I’m weird.

The pacing, while not perfect, absolutely felt a lot better, at least prior to the Fossil Falls bit.
The story, while not super-deep, is stronger.
It did learn from the criticisms to some degree. Just maybe not as much as some would've wanted.

My brother (HUGE Mario Galaxy fan) said seeing this was the “worst thing that ever happened” to him in that particular theater. He had a severe seizure in that theater and had to be hospitalized in 2022. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
