A Reflection on Life, Love, and Family on My 57th Birthday Today, as I celebrate my 57th trip around the sun, I find myself reflecting on the journey that has brought me here—filled with lessons, challenges, and countless blessings. Life has been a road of twists and turns, victories and setbacks, but through it all, I have learned that resilience and gratitude are the keys to moving forward. Love has been my greatest teacher. It has shown me the importance of forgiveness, the power of kindness, and the beauty of human connection. Whether through friendships, partnerships, or the unwavering support of those who stand beside me, love has been the foundation that keeps me strong. But above all, family remains my greatest treasure. The bonds we share, the memories we create, and the love we give unconditionally are what truly define a meaningful life. No success, no achievement, and no amount of time can compare to the warmth of those who call you their own. To everyone who has been part of my journey—family, friends, and those who have shaped my life in ways big and small—I thank you. Your presence, your love, and your support mean more than words can express. Here's to another year of growth, adventure, and making the most of every moment. Eligible North Carolinians in need will have an additional 2 months to find alternative housing: through May 26, 2025. This is a positive development, and I pledge to work with the new administration to support displaced North Carolinians and help folks recover.

It’s also been confirmed that FEMA and insurance companies are mass denying people who lost everything The state is also offering buyouts of their properties. It’s a land grab, which makes sense when explaining so many people are getting denied and are still receiving tax bills “Well I found out it's because if North Carolina buys you out of that house they get reimbursed 75% of it from FEMA Okay, so if FEMA can reimburse 75% of the buyout value and North Carolina has the money to do it right now, how come the homeowner can't have that money to stay put?
