After 3yrs the DPEA recommends the elements of The Causey design proposal to CEC. That means reversing flow of traffic, removing parking spaces, relocating loading bays. All to make this a people friendly street. Respect to CEC for sticking with CDT.

We need to make it easier to cross the road in Edinburgh too! Most stand-alone crossings work well but at traffic lights, pedestrians wait far too long. See our ideas for for improvement here: bit.ly/3yTXDVX

How long are you waiting to cross the road? 🚦 Research shows that after 30 seconds pedestrians are more likely to run out of patience and risk crossing the road before the signals change. Discover our resources for #BetterCrossings 🚶 youtu.be/LZvdS7hE9gU

This is a big day for me. It has been such a privilege helping Ginnie, Rod and Team Filmhouse since the awful day CMI went into liquidation. A herculean effort from all involved. Now we have to support it with our patronage! The doors - they did open!

A wonderful time taking around 100 eleven yr olds camping in the Highlands. Some in a tent and cooking in the wild for the first time. Happy days!

Thanks to everyone involved with @PulseofthePlace, a vibrant youth samba band, with talented participants from across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Great to learn about the project, hear a performance and thanks for giving me a shot.🥁

@fountainbridge Feels like every week I have to ask the EdinHelp lot to move road signs dumped on pavements (for the convenience of drivers) with zero thought given to pedestrians (even on narrow pavements where they don't leave enough for a wheelchair or pram to pass). Why on the pavement???

Congratulations to the Causey and thanks to TEC councillors! Let's see this "shovel ready" project, 18 years (!) in the making, implemented asap.🙂

Big day for The Causey yesterday, moved from "paused" to "proceed" in CEC's capital investment prioritisation. Couldn't have happened without the ongoing support of our Southside Newington Councillors @SimitaSKumar @SteveAMBurgess, Pauline Flannery, Tim Pogson.

It was community led from the beginning - and they have been led up and down the garden path for over a decade. The council needs to honour its previous commitments if not to seriously erode trust in engaging with us. Let’s get on with delivery.

Big win for @The_Causey at Transport Committee today. Originally marked for the shelf, SNP successfully tabled that it proceed in addition to formally being considered for Visitor Levy funding. 🎉

I'm delighted to see more funding for dropped kerbs in Edinburgh...but every town in Scotland is plagued with inaccessible kerbs. Why doesn't the Scottish Government just give *all* councils a pot of ££ to help fix them??

The idea that Nigel Farage could one day become Prime Minister makes me sick! An independent Scotland is the only solution. Otherwise, we’ll be dragged into a populist, right-wing future we didn’t vote for. edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion/c…

Some of the best before-and-after transformations of streets & places come from Vienna, a city that showed even when you’re already one of the best cities in the world, you can constantly keep getting better by rethinking space for cars. Via former Deputy Mayor @BirgitHebein.

All public transport users walk by footways at some point in the journey, surely?
douglas@udprdjm

@LivingStreetsEd Yes this is the priority for you but not the majority of Edinburgh population who need to use public transport to get from a to b , and better road surface wound make a huge difference to them and also cyclists
