An academic colleague told me that his students need to understand how to utilize data in the clinic or they will be left behind. I'm working with the team at #DorsaVi to package data more effectively so clinicians don't have to do a significant amount of data processing on the fly - decreasing the cognitive load on PTs working in high-paced environments...and aren't we all in some way! We already have the most advanced hardware, software and algorithms for collecting biomechanical data points on patients and clients. Our updated reporting will take that to the next level, contributing to ease of use in the clinic....

@mrlongshore I agree with most of this. Very nuanced part of talent assessment and training. How are you and others assessing joint angles in dynamic environments?

Didn’t expect this to blow up but the part that people missed is that objective traits are available to everyone and easily quantified. 40 speeds are evaluated and graded at all levels. But the edge in recruiting and evaluation is finding ways to quantify + value subjective traits.  The beauty of the “shin angle” idea is that it isn’t easily measured and there’s not a universal scale for application. Obviously everyone doesn’t cleanly fall into one category or another, the value is in the nuance. Yes, it is absurd to compare Jaxon Dart to Mike Vick and Lamar Jackson but trying to find ways to explain why Dart averaged 5.7 ypc while running a mere 4.85 40 at the NFL combine matters. Dart’s ability to change direction made him elusive in small spaces but also made him over confident and a bit reckless, which can also be evaluated on its own, as the health of your QB is paramount to any winning franchise.  If you are interested in more nuanced insights, doing a Free E-Book download on our site in the bio, check it out.

Early in my career as an evaluator, I had this legendary lacrosse coach convince me to examine shin angles if I really wanted to know how athletic a guy is. He argued that change of direction, balance, and body control would show up in guys who could get to 30 degrees... I was skeptical at first but couldn't agree more after it continues to show up. Anybody else ever heard of this metric?
