The inability for people to see the potential benefit of this is stunning. Our society is so jaded (particularly against AI) that people take the most cynical view of new ideas. There will be harms from this proposed product--just as with every new tech. But the taboo being practiced in the replies is extreme. We've all heard of (and most healthy people have practiced) having a conversation with a deceased loved one. You go to their grave site or that special place you two had, and you talk to them. Maybe you write them a letter. It's clear AI has the potential to expand and enhance this process. The technophobia is turning many here into a mob with pitchforks wishing death to the creator. Get a grip on yourselves.

(To be clear I am urban, educated, and out of touch with the working class more broadly--but I realize that and try to do social welfare analysis about what matters for consumers as whole not specific groups. Why I support tariff reductions, for example.)

Some of the neo-Brandesian views (like the hatred for Wal-Mart 15 years ago) often seems grounded less in consumer welfare and more in a view that everyone should be shopping at expensive craft boutiques in Brooklyn instead of buying inexpensive tacky mass produced stuff.
