Just published my video essay about visiting the @ProsperaGlobal startup society, the @infinitacity biotech community that calls Próspera home, and how these communities represent a new wave of societies built for the 21st century. Meanwhile, as I experienced life there on Roatan, Honduras, my state government's dysfunction demonstrated the troubles facing legacy systems. Watch here: youtu.be/qsWzS94mVrk?si… Thank you, @erickbrimen and @NiklasAnzinger for sharing some time for this story.

@brandonferdig @elonmusk That’s not the case. For example, I do not fear AI in and of itself. I worry about what people will use it for, and what they will develop it into.

Of course they're different. They're a generation apart. AI is just the latest tech iteration people are afraid of. Calculators are going to reduce people's ability to do math. Writing is going to replace people's ability to memorize. Both true to a point but also way overblown and proved a huge net positive for humanity. "AI is different because it creates its own art." And? Why would that remove our appreciation for another human's artistic (spiritual) creation? We're humans. We're inspired by what other humans do. Plus, show me a piece of 100% AI-created film or music that's truly original and moving. AI is great at making generic work, not boundary-pushing.

That’s a very poor example to use with someone who’s a musician. Drum machines are used in tangent with actual drums, they are used to compliment them, and they require 100% human control and input. AI generation, after a certain point, no longer needs human input and just does what it wants. Two entirely different situations.

@elonmusk And is that what we really want? Are we really ok with human creativity being non-existent? AI should be a tool, not a replacer.

These researchers are examining the efficacy of pop-up cities around the world. If you've attended or organized such efforts, check out their work and consider taking part in their survey.
Jimin Lee@jiminleex

We’ve opened surveys for our Pop-up City Research Initiative. We’re building a public-good, community-informed research report on pop-up cities, using systematic methods to make cross-case comparisons. Whether you participated in a pop-up city as an attendee, operator, or partner, you can find your role-based survey here: thouartofficial.com/research/popup… Candidate focal cases include Zuzalu, Edge Esmeralda, Network School v2, Burning Man, and others. Each focal case receives a dedicated case profile, cross-case comparisons, and positioning on the report’s landscape map. The final public good report will feature 8–12 focal cases from an initial candidate pool of 15, which may expand; cases that do not meet minimum data thresholds will be included as comparator references rather than full profiles. More about the initiative: thouartofficial.com/research/popup… This is independent research. No affiliation or endorsement is implied for any referenced candidate case. Our analysis draws on surveys plus formal interviews to date with 71 stakeholders across 48 pop-up cities and relevant organisations, and this dataset is still growing. We also conduct on-the-ground fieldwork at select pop-up cities, with additional interviews ongoing. Questions, feedback, suggestions, support, or bug reports: research@thouartofficial.com cc @denisalepadatu_ @thouartstudio @crecimientoar @James_of_Arc @burningman @EdgeEsmeralda @formacity @infinitacity @Mars_College @ns @themu_xyz @proofofretreat @_zanzalu @ZuBerlinCity @zuitzerland @zucity_japan

A tale of two vehicles, both seen within a few days in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. - One will take a rider wherever he/she wishes to go with the promise of a new level of safety and efficiency. - The other was filled with soldiers sitting in the back, ready to enforce the law at the barrel of a gun. One might think these are signs of a society splitting into oppostie directions. But I believe they work in tandem. As technology disrupts our societal operating systems, more enforcement is deployed to try to keep things under control. It's also why I'm writing this from the airport traveling to @Prosperahn and to the @infinitacity Liberty Acceleration Summit, to learn about and discuss novel forms of governance and societies in development.

🎙️New Interview Steve is the owner of Trophy Whitetail, a deer farm and hunting product outfit in northwest Minnesota. Steve has long been fighting with the state about restrictions on his business due to the risks of CWD (chronic wasting disease) in Minnesota's deer population. 🧐 But are these measures worse than the disease? And what do these attempted measures reveal about the nature and strength of our government? WATCH HERE: youtu.be/94u7r03p0Tw Steve doesn't hold back his thoughts, having also been a vocal advocate for deer farming as well as hunters facing the threat of Minnesota's wolves. We touch on the wolf issue, and then we dive into the issue of how far is too far for a government to go in trying to stop the spread of a disease. 🤔 Hmm, seems like we dealt with this issue with COVID... Here we are again, this time for an animal illness.

I can't believe that Nvidia looked at this "AI on top of games filter" and said to themselves this is the future of gaming. Like it or not, this is where Nvidia is heading and they're calling it neural rendering with DLSS 5. The examples they've showed reminded me a lot of those AI generated filter videos on top of GTA V, except that now it is supposed to run in real-time. Honestly, I don't like this current look at all

@DisrespectedThe I know this guy - Steve Porter - met him for a story I did about grey wolves here in Minnesota and the work Steve does advocating for hunters. I reached out to him this afternoon and am going to interview him about the issue here. Any questions you all would like me to ask?

Minnesota Democrats quietly ended deer farms in the entire state Americans deer farmer “They passed a law, no more licenses in Minnesota. All my breed stock are worth nothing They passed a law that on my farm entity, the business must die with me So I have a son, I can turn my farm over to my son, one generation, but then it must die with my son. Well, I have 4 boys that would love to run my farm, but they're not gonna run it knowing it has to die with them and they'll never get a retirement. So my farm's gonna die with me 'cause my sons aren't gonna take over. I'm righteously pissed off, righteously pissed off at these evil people. I'm angry” - Minnesota passed legislation to stop issuing new registrations/licenses for white-tailed deer farms - Limits transfers of existing deer farm licenses to one time only, and typically only to immediate family members - Existing farms can continue operating under their current license, but after that single family transfer, the license effectively ends. No further generational handoff or new owners
