The Queen is wearing the diamond maple leaf brooch commissioned by Canada’s King George VI for Queen Elizabeth in 1939. It was later worn by Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (now Princess of Wales).

It’s unclear why The King is wearing an insignia of a companion of the Order of Canada, rather than that of the sovereign. He is also sovereign of the Order of Merit, Order of Military Merit, Order of Merit of the Police Forces, Royal Victorian Order, & Order of St John.

@bfour_88 @JustinTrudeau Mostly, the Canadian monarchy is portrayed as foreign & alien. So, implying supporters of that system are foreign & alien tracks. Still, comparatively, that article is one of the better ones the CBC has published (despite obviously not fact-checking CCR’s claims).

One thing that I find interesting is how "monarchists" are referred to in Canada, like some sort of unique, foreign, alien species. And yes, @JustinTrudeau, what are you waiting for? The Crown represents our sovereignty and heritage. #canada #cdnpolitics
