@DeanTTraining For those that don't want to count calories, you can do it 1 day and eat the same thing everyday without any deviations of any kind. Literally eat the same thing everyday and you'll lose weight. Calories in/Calories out really does work.

“Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule—to the Israel of God.” Gal. 6:16 The phrase “Israel of God” has sparked considerable debate. Is Paul referring exclusively to ethnic Jews, or does he mean the Church, composed of both Jews and Gentiles? The Larger Context The rule of exegesis mirrors that of real estate: location, location, location. While the grammar and syntax here are ambiguous, context is decisive. Paul's overarching message in Galatians is clear: there is no distinction between Jews and Gentiles in Christ. The agitators in Galatia were insisting that Gentiles must adopt Jewish customs—essentially “Judaize”—to become part of the true people of God. Paul vehemently opposes this notion. Forcing Gentiles to live like Jews is contrary to the gospel, a point he reiterates throughout the letter. Gentiles are included among God’s people through faith in the Messiah, not through ethnic identity or adherence to the law. Paul could hardly make this clearer. To suggest otherwise runs counter to the letter’s core argument: that all who are in Christ are Abraham’s offspring, heirs to the promise, regardless of ethnicity. The Immediate Context The structure of verses 15 and 16 further supports this interpretation. In verse 15, Paul introduces the “rule” of the new creation: “Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything.” Ethnicity is irrelevant. This rule, echoed in Galatians 5:6 and 1 Corinthians 7:19, underscores that what truly matters is being a new creation in Christ. Paul then pronounces peace and mercy upon all who follow this rule, identifying them as the “Israel of God.” This phrase refers to those who embrace the truth that ethnicity is immaterial in the new age of the gospel. Strikingly, Paul’s blessing excludes those who continue to insist that circumcision or uncircumcision holds significance, maintaining a distinction between Jews and Gentiles in God’s economy. In conclusion, if Paul is wishing peace and mercy on those who follow the rule of the new creation… then he cannot be making a distinction between Jew and Gentile with the phrase “Israel of God.” This would not make sense in light of the immediate context or the larger context. In fact, it would undermine everything else he said about those who are in Christ by faith being Abraham’s offspring and heirs according to promise. Therefore, based upon the larger and immediate context, the “Israel of God” includes any who are in Christ, Jew or Gentile. ~ A. Blake White

@pastorscottc @ShinarSquirrel The New Covenant is made with the "house of Israel". Jesus gave his blood to establish the New Covenant. Paul is telling the Church at Corinth that Jesus gave his blood for them. The New Covenant, therefore, is made with the Church.

There is no plausible exegesis of a NT (or OT) passage in which “Israel” means the “Church.”

One of you says, “I belong to Paul,” or “I belong to Apollos,” or “I belong to Cephas,” or “I belong to Christ.” Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in Paul’s name?” (1 Cor. 1:11-13 CSB17)

@EddyEkofo @DracoReformans perhaps, but we know what a true disciple looks like-> a believer who continues in His word. “As he was saying these things, many believed in him. Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples.” (John 8:30-31)

@EddyEkofo @DracoReformans He’s abusing the verb of being taught something with the noun disciple which throughout scripture and contemporary usage as someone who willfully dedicates themselves to their master, like the disciples leaving their life to follow Jesus. It isn’t just mere reception of teachings

@Petty_France It's hard to recant a pejorative you've used repeatedly in print to describe those who adhere to Sola Scriptura I understand why you have to take this side. But, this article doesn't help the anti-biblicist camp, it looks more in favour of the other.

@NamorPB I just read his post on the justification for using the term the way he does. My take is that he wrote a book, finds out after the book was written that he’s wrong, but already invested the time so he needs to justify using the term regardless of the history.

Here we have Matt just relegating our disputation to a "struggle session". This usually implies one doesn't care much for those he's mocking. So much for fairness.

@NamorPB Do they even try to offer a refutation? It always strikes me odd that a professing Christian when confronted with evidence, they simply dismiss it or avoid evidence instead of letting truth change their view.

You aren't against Reformed Biblicism. You're against hyper-inductivism, whatever you want to define that as. It's OK. We Biblicists will still be here honoring Sola Scriptura while you're redefining terms.
