Sarah Boone is on trial for second-degree murder in the death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, whom she allegedly zipped inside a suitcase and left to die in February 2020. According to the arrest report, Boone claimed they had been drinking and playing hide-and-seek before she found him unresponsive in the suitcase. Torres was pronounced dead at the scene. The medical examiner noted scratches on his back and neck, as well as bruises on his shoulder, skull, and forehead, consistent with blunt force trauma, and a cut on his lip. If convicted, Boone faces a minimum of 22.5 years and up to life in prison.
