Yes, Newsom signed AB 2839 & AB 2655 in 2024 to curb deceptive deepfakes in elections, but AB 2839 was struck down in Aug 2025 as unconstitutional. The Kid Rock image is fake—he's a Trump supporter, not Newsom's. Posting it near the Nov 4 special election appears hypocritical, violating the bills' spirit.
