@lefineder This is a better campaign premise than my last four games. I love it.

"The monk joined the monastery and spent the next ten years working his way up the ranks, until finally he was put in charge of the relics."

Cranky Federalist@CrankyFed
A heist movie, but it's about monks from one medieval monastery plotting to boost relics from another monastery

@IntractableLion Yours is a beautiful post. It reminds me of one of my favorite Norm quotes.

"It's because of quantum mechanics" is one of those non-answers that sounds good to laymen without informing, drives me nuts. The real answer is that the mathematics of space filling curves are universal regardless of scale, from bones to galactic superstructures to cabbages

Brian Cox@ProfBrianCox
This was a very good question from Ryan - why does the Universe on the largest scales resemble the Universe on the smallest scales? The answer, for the case of the distribution of galaxies on the sky, is that the pattern we see has its origin in quantum mechanical fluctuations during inflation - before the hot big bang (at least according to inflationary cosmology, which is the most widely accepted model at present). Hail Mary is a very good film by the way :-)

@sethfowIer @Ideated_ai Thanks for the reply. You have an amazing tool there, I’ve been reading everything you post for a while now.
English

@ThemDave @Ideated_ai Sadly we only support long-form at the moment!
Once I’ve released the full pro suite, I’ll add shorts support!

@sethfowIer It’s interesting & kind of sad it’s the opposite of “right place right time” some creators did get there by of adapting early, or hitting the market just right, & coasted. Didn’t innovate, iterate or learn. IMO Dans Gaming on twitch is one of the hardest working OG’s around
English

OG Youtubers are usually the most clueless.
And it’s kinda their fault.
You’ve likely seen huge YouTubers claiming that Youtube is broken, or the ‘algorithm has shifted’ or there’s some kind of bug that has nuked their channel.
But the truth is, they just don’t have an ounce of optimisation.
They post vague, generic videos, and assume that because they once got X amount of views, that they’re not entitled to get that forever.
But when you don’t optimise your ideation, your packaging, or your content, here’s what happens;
- Your viewers churn. They age out, take up new interests, find new creators. If you’re doing the same thing you always have, there’s no reason to actively seek out your content.
- You fizzle out. A lot of creators eventually die off completely. What was once a channel that did millions of views, now does single digit thousands. They never adapted, they didn’t replace churned viewers.
- They see higher views and assume it’s the new normal. A gaming creator can get momentum by making videos about a popular game, a vlogger can get momentum by doing something more interesting than usual. That momentum may last for X period, but eventually you’ll return to the previous base line of super fans.
YouTube is VERY simple. Make videos around topics or formats that either have proof of demand, or that you’re confident would be received well by a broad audience.
Keep those viewers watching for as long as possible.
Succeed. Simple as that.
Creators may try that, and because it doesn’t miraculously bring them millions of views, give up, and blame it on the ‘algorithm’.
But fail to consider the learning curve, the new skillset they need to adopt and master.
‘I got views once, they should stay the same forever’
They feel like they don’t need to change.
The old saying is true.
Adapt or die.

@youwillmakemaps And I used to feel bad when I would put a small forest in my mythic mega dungeons. Really I should’ve set up POS kiosks and green automatons.

I’ve got some bad news and some good news.
The good news is that a small portion of your shorts viewers might get served your long form as exploration. That does happen.
The bad news is that when you look at the data, you usually don’t see more than about 1% converting from short form to long form. And that still requires your long form to stand on its own.
People watch shorts for a specific need. People watch long form for a different need. Sometimes there’s overlap, but not always.
So I would treat them differently and not expect one to meaningfully convert into the other. Grow each with its own strategy.

@WATCHHOLLIE I would be thrilled to hit 50 viewers regularly. So whoever is acting like that number isn’t impressive hasn’t actually been on the grind or is jealous.

Ive had people post a screenshot of my 50ccv average and say "dis you?" when I give advice about streaming or content creation.
Yeah, my live has crashed every stream for 1.5 years. I also am not full-time and cancel often, whats your point? Also 50 PEOPLE IS STILL A LOT???
I made affiliate in 7 days, partner in 2 years, hosted 5 twitchcon panels, work with twitch, 30+ sponsorships, and have over 40k combined follows. Im not saying I know everything, I just have 5 years of experience that could help people so why wouldn't I try and help?
Some y'all are mean 🤣
