Keyboards absolutely put whole categories of people out of work lmao.
Compilers are a better example. They massively widened the pool of people who could write code. It expanded the size of the industry. It resulted in more programmers.
I don't know where AI lives on the spectrum between these two. I'm not trying to fuel any fires, just reporting on what I see and experience.
