@CakeQ3 @JeffMarek As someone who has negotiated a union contract I can say with some degree of certainty that coaches aren't about to advocate for less money and fewer guarantees.
English

@CakeQ3 @JeffMarek Sure, there are a lot of the cheaper teams in the league that would be thrilled to be able to fire a coach and not have to pay them while paying their new coach.
I highly doubt coaches would be thrilled, especially those less likely to get another NHL job than Cassidy.
English

I have a feeling coaching contracts are about to change.

Statement from the NHLCA:
English

@ceramiccowthot @NHLJackManning So we agree that the NHL did more to ensure that a team never skips a post game presser than they did to make sure a team never covers up sexual assault again
English

@TheodoreTooth @NHLJackManning Fines don’t stop teams from doing this stuff again. Taking a pick does
English

This is very disappointing. I would really like to hear from the team what led them to make the decisions that led to the loss of the pick
I just can't make any sense of it.

Vegas/NHL met at 10 am today As it stands, penalties remain as assessed: $100K fine to John Tortorella Second-round pick. There is possibility if Vegas is compliant with rules, there could be some addressing of this in the future…but it doesn’t sound like there’s room for draft penalty to be revoked…
English

Are offer sheets typical? No.
They are well within every team's rights though.
What Vegas is doing is absolutely legal, ethical, within the rules, and acceptable.
If you were paying somebody $4.5 million, wouldn't you want to have control? That's what contracts are for.

@mayorNHL is this typical though? I have not heard of other franchises denying coaches under contract opportunity

@OilersJack Thrilled we could come to an understanding, you're alright Jack.

@zko1014 @Sumdood88 @Cosmic_SnG And again, avoiding the pertinent question of what, exactly, you consider to be satisfactory evidence of innocence.
John Doe is accused of a crime he is innocent of, what must he do to prove his innocence?
English

@zko1014 @Sumdood88 @Cosmic_SnG You're correct, that is indeed what a not guilty verdict means
Which is why it's notable that in this case the judge, a woman herself, went out of her way to make clear that the testimony and accusations of the accuser lacked merit, we're not consistent, and we're not credible.
English

@zko1014 @Sumdood88 @Cosmic_SnG And if your answer is "don't be accused" then let's go ahead and get rid of the judicial system in its entirety. Why bother going through a trial if guilt is assumed regardless of evidence or verdict?
English

@zko1014 @Sumdood88 @Cosmic_SnG Is every person found not guilty of a crime actually guilty of said crime?
I'll ask again, what standard proof would satisfy you? What could someone accused of a crime do to prove they are, in fact, innocent of said crime?
English

@Sumdood88 @Cosmic_SnG And while we are all mulling that over, let's think about how we are trivializing real cases of sexual assault and real victims of sexual assault by treating it as something to take digs at a sports team we don't like.
English

@Sumdood88 @Cosmic_SnG I simply have to ask the question of people still doing this performative bit;
What level of proof will be enough?
If someone is falsely accused of a crime, what is the standard by which you will be satisfied with their innocence?
English

@Idoru_tws Is that the same Colorado whose very own Valeri Nichushkin had a woman who was drugged to the point of incoherence taken out of his room and sent away in an ambulance while she claimed that the Nichushkin was a "bad man" who took her passport from her?
