Yes there were about 200 million of us Americans if I recall. Sadly, only about 3000 of us remain (based solely on current replies to the OP). It was a big deal. I was 12. We immediately turned our attention to the year 2000. When I realized I’d be 34, I remember assuming I wouldn’t make it.

Not dirt, stone/aggregate. The different colors of the logo are factory cut and glued together with a seaming tape, about 8” wide, that is not permeable. The turf itself is, so the stone gets rinsed by precipitation while the area where the seaming tape does not. You can see this effect on the yard lines as well.

A month ago he starts showing up again after being gone for 4+ years. During mother's day I take my dog for a walk in her neighborhood and see a sign with his picture on it. The family that was feeding him stopped seeing him after giving him to a family several miles away.

Last year, my hydroponic greenhouse and garden were fully automated with an ESP32 controlling 12v pumps powered by a 200w solar panel and 100ah LiFePO4 battery system. It worked great, but this year I decided to simplify things. Even off-grid systems still depend on replacement parts, which may be hard to obtain the way things are going in this country. So this season I switched to a gravity-fed tank using a European system called Blumat that requires no electricity at all. I’m also moving away from pure hydroponics and going with a hybrid setup using reusable coco coir as the growing medium, feeding nutrients through that instead. If nutrients ever become difficult to get, I can even brew my own compost teas if needed. I’ll try to post the results at the end of the growing season.
