"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." I don't have to be religious to agree that if I don't want to be harmed, I shouldn't harm others. Theists often misunderstand atheists, much in the same way atheists misunderstand theists. Atheism is not meant to be a set of beliefs. Rather, it's a lack of belief in God or Gods, so it tracks that atheism can not dictate or "answer" anything as it's just a descriptor. Those of us who do not believe in God or, more like me, think about God as a concept rather than a being find meaning and answers in other ways. Personally, I do think there is much we can learn from the Bible, even if we do not interpret it literally as theists do. Biblical stories only resonated with me once I heard them approached from a psychological perspective as opposed to a literal one, much thanks to @jordanbpeterson for that.
