To South Africans asking why Zimbabweans don’t protest as much anymore- short answer is that whereas the gov used to fight protest with police, tear gas etc the usual…dogs even. That was manageable but now it’s soldiers against civilians. Armed and ready to shoot. Tricky.

South Africa is not perfect. No place is. But, the fact that South Africans can protest and not get unalived by state security apparatus is a miracle that most Africans can only wish for. In most countries, protestors end up dead.
