In e-waste, there are harmful chemicals that need to be recycled properly. Otherwise lead, cadmium and lithium can make there way in our ground water in landfills. #apeswaste@franklinlorax
Radon is coming up from the soil all around us, and is mostly prevalent in basements. These radioactive particles damage the cells lining your lungs. Make sure to get your air quality checked! #apesair@franklinlorax
@DNackel@franklinlorax That’s true. Another harmful substance we could breathe in is radon, found in older basements. This could lead to lung cancer. @apeslorax#apesair
When workers were creating the high school, they had to make sure the asbestos was gone, because it’s a harmful carcinogen. Otherwise academic marvels such as LJ would not be able to participate in school. @franklinlorax#apesair
On a windy day like today, I sure wish I had a wind turbine in my yard. Wind turbines don’t require combustion of fossil fuels such as coal meaning that I won’t pollute harmful emissions that lead to acid rain or greenhouse gases. @franklinlorax#APESEnergy
Brian ran a track meet today. He ran very fast. If he would be able to run on a turbine, he would create a lot of energy. Conservation of energy at its finest. #apesenergy@franklinlorax
This energy that is used in the school for lighting, and majorly everything, is from a coal powerplant that is burned and converted to energy for us. @franklinlorax#apesenergy
Visiting Sendik’s in Franklin taught us a ton about how stores that have large amounts of food waste have been using the ‘Grind2Energy’ resource to produce energy that then goes to the grid. Check out this video of the grinding in action! @franklinlorax#APESEnergy
We are in the middle of the Holocene (6th) mass extinction.... It will be awful to watch if we don’t start doing more to help our globe!! I couldn’t live with my parents, dog and culvers! @franklinlorax#APESLand
This picture was taken in Door County Wisconsin. This are is abundant with deciduous forests, which have very fertile soil because of the decomposition of leaves. #apesland@franklinlorax
As the human population continues to grow, more cars will have to be on the road to supply those humans transportation needs. This could negatively affect the environment with co2 emissions. #apespop@franklinlorax
This is big red. Big red is an older truck that doesn’t get the best fuel economy which means when I drive I leave a greater ecological footprint. I could reduce the growth of my ecological foot print by getting a more fuel efficient vehicle. #apespop@franklinlorax
when dealing with food consumption concerns, the U.S is known for overnutrition, which plays into being a factor of our high level of overweight people. @franklinlorax#apespop
