@monsterhunter45 This is epic! Good thing you’re smart with Finances, Larry, a lesser man would squander such wealth.

I've been on podcasts with Jesse here, nice guy, and he just told me that he made the mistake of launching his kickstarter the same day me and @longshotauthor had a new release. So rather than me drowning the poor guy out, I'm gonna say you guys should all take a look at this.

@YAProlegomena @Jringo1508 Ugh, I concede. Given that if I were penetrating armor with an EFP, the denser plasma would be the preferred choice. By HEAT I meant High Explosive Anti-Tank.

I know this is not a word but I don't know of a better one. The main missile weapons in the Starry Knight universe use a nuclear shaped charge that turns a chunk of depleted uranium into a nuclear EFP. Thus it is plasmafied. I really don't have a better word. 'driving a spear of plasmafied depleted uranium forward at relativistic speeds' Thoughts?

@YAProlegomena @Jringo1508 I think I agree. Military application is different than industrial. i think the reason EFPs use copper is the amount & type of explosive available. It’s cheaper to make copper into plasma than steel, energy-wise.

@YAProlegomena @Jringo1508 Given sufficient energy to convert the steel totally to plasma, then I presume the nuclear density matters. But if you’re making an explosion of that size/power do you really need a shaped charge?

The Account formerly known as
@ThisIllDefend13 @Jringo1508 Nuclear density affects plasma behavior - higher Z elements have different stopping power, opacity, and equation of state even fully ionized. Uranium plasma ≠ copper plasma. Same energy, very different physics.

@YAProlegomena @Jringo1508 After re-reading… i realized you missed a key element. The EFP material must be highly malleable. Something hard… like DU would not be a good material.

The Account formerly known as
@ThisIllDefend13 @Jringo1508 DU alloys are used/investigated for EFP & shaped charge applications b/c of their density & performance In a nuclear shaped charge the liner is plasmafied anyway, so the main advantages are density & mass in the jet DU excels there while being less radioactive than natural U

@4nt1p4tt3rn Zenzunni were pacificists to a fault until the end of the Butlerian Jihad. Fremen=FREE MEN OF DUNE, is a violent evolution of that cult mixed with North African tribes. FH idolized the Muslim resistance to USSR push into the Caucases.

Something that's always bothered me about Dune (the books as well as the movies): You're rooting for the Fremen. They're the underdogs. The good guys. The Fremen are Muslim. If you doubt me, just look at their language. Their belief system. Hell, even their habitats are almost too on-the-nose. FFS, they even refer to Muad'dib as "Mahdi".

@DerekElder306 @Dr_M_Davis @revishvilig @WarintheFuture Agreed. Neither Russia nor Ukraine had the combined arms training, experience, or capability prior to the war. They are operating at the grade school level and lack the infrastructure to develop secondary school education systems to improve.

@Dr_M_Davis @revishvilig @WarintheFuture From what I’ve seen, limited to GWOT, application is the primary barrier. Even within the US Army, there were leaders who couldn’t effectively use combined arms warfare. My assumption is that Russia and Ukraine are woefully behind the curve of application.

@revishvilig @WarintheFuture this makes fascinating and thought provoking reading. But as you say, all war is about adaptation and learning, and my bet is that states will be working on ways and technologies to overcome this impasse and restore mobility to the battlespace.

My brother’s girlfriend left him. He was 27. She was 25. She left because she wanted to marry and settle down. My brother wasn’t ready. He was hurt because he genuinely liked her. He is 30 now and doing really well for himself. She is 27 now, still not married. She now drives a Lexus SUV, has her own place, and a well-paying job. Guess who’s back sleeping with each other again? Both of them. Told him to enjoy her. But he should never think of marrying her. He agrees. She left once. She will leave again.
