I also think they were trying to really contrast the times politically in the sense that Nixon conceded even though there were discrepancies. When Don replies, “Well then why concede?” Cooper replies, “And make a national crisis that will go into December, maybe longer? This way he lives to fight another day.” When this episode aired it was what…only a decade or so after Bush v Gore? I can only imagine the dialog if the episode was filmed now. Haha
