The 1926 census details for my great grandfather and great grandmother. My mum’ grandfather and grandmother. 8 children. One John my grandfather. Lived in Boleyboy near Irishtown, Mayo.

@BrigidLaffan My father’ dad unfortunately had passed in 1919. My dad was born 5 months later. All three remaining grand parents accounted for.

@ThomasGaravan I have managed to trace three of my children’s grandparents but strangely no record of my mother and her family. I have tried every version of O’Connell in Irish and English-no luck.

This is the 1926 census recording my father at 4 and his mother who was already a widow at 38. Very poignant- my father always said that he never enjoyed Christmas until he was married and had his own family
