@AnfieldSector Imagine listening to this crap in the dressing room. No wonder the players look like they have no idea what’s happening.

🚨 Arne Slot on if he’s questioned himself during this tough season: “It is completely normal that you have doubts.. I don’t know if doubt is the right word but you should reflect on the decisions you make. That is not always to say when I have won I made the right decision and when we lose I make the wrong decision. "The other day many say we changed the tactics towards PSG, we would never know the outcome would have been if we played the usual 4-3-3. Now I can understand people say this was the wrong decision because we lost 2-0. "If you win things you think you make more right decisions than if we lose. I would question that to be honest, whether I made more right decisions last season when we won than this season. No one will see it like this."

🚨 Arne Slot says he is ON THE SAME PAGE as Liverpool’s ownership group regards what has gone wrong this season: “I can come up with all the reasons why this season has been so difficult. Everyone can see them so why should I always tell them (the reasons) as that becomes making excuses and it is not good to make excuses. "They are so clear and obvious that everyone can see them. If you don’t want to see them for reasons, no problem. But it is so obvious and so clear, it is not difficult to see all the problems we faced. "I cannot tell you what we are saying to each other but I think we all see the same. By that I mean the ownership, Richard, Michael, everyone. Everyone sees what is happening in front of our eyes and we are all aligned in what we are seeing and on the reasons for it."

🚨 Arne Slot on fan protests over ticket prices: “Anfield has shown in history and also in my time here how important these fans are for us. A recent example was Galatasaray where we had a tough game away from home when their fans wer really loud and then Anfield showed what loud really is. That is what makes Anfield special. In general playing at home for every team is very helpful. I've always felt that support when we've been playing in good or bad times. Even though there are protests, I hope the fans can be as helpful as they have been.”

@AnfieldSector That’s so smart. Cause then when it inevitably is bad and he needs to be fired after 2 months, there will be no managers available. Really genius.

@AnfieldSector Using Jota as a reason is disgusting. Also doesn’t make sense because we’ve been crap since March last year. Grief is also not responsible for no tactics.

[🟢] NEW: As things stand, FSG believe there is mitigation for performances: the death of Diogo Jota principle among that, given its effect on his team-mates at the start of the season. There has also been the fall-off in performance of the stars of the era, primarily last season’s top goalscorer Mohamed Salah. While Slot is acknowledged to have made errors, the feeling is that he deserves four transfer windows before a judgment is made. [@SamWallaceTel]

Slot has described the prospect of facing familiar French foes as like coming up against a "washing machine", due to the speed with which the likes of Vitinha and Joao Neves quickly recycle the ball and press their opponents. @footballontnt

@AnfieldSector @AbdellahBoulma Bit of a mess. He's shite & needs to be replaced, but we can't really afford to allow him to leave for Free. So give a new deal, to enable us to maybe get a fee for him in 12 months time or something. Leoni & Jacquet are the future for us.

A mutiny is brewing at Liverpool. Can Slot conjure a Paris miracle? @_pauljoyce thinks PSG play like Jürgen Klopp’s "mentality monsters" while Liverpool's big names continue to struggle ⬇️ #Echobox=1775597568" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thetimes.com/sport/football…

@AnfieldSector @_pauljoyce Hilarious they think that’s gonna change. They don’t respect him and they won’t, no matter what. Keeping him if he gets a result against PSG will just prolong things until the next week.

🚨 Arne Slot insists he has no regrets with how he has handled Mohamed Salah this season: “I don't regret many things I did during a little longer than one-and-a-half years together. Again, the assumption that if he's not playing that he wants to leave - that's the assumption being made - then he would have left one-and-a-half years ago. "I can remember West Ham away when he wasn't playing (under Jurgen Klopp in 2024). I wasn't there. He didn’t decide to leave. The assumption is that if you don’t play in these games and all of a sudden wants to leave, it is an assumption and maybe it is true or maybe it isn’t. But history has shown is that he did not do that previously and had a great season after that.”

[🟢] NEW: FSG remain steadfastly behind Arne Slot and want him to emerge from the turbulence. The prevailing view is that Slot was crucial to the league title and that the head coach with a track record of success has not just disappeared. This has been a season of, at times, unprecedented challenges, beginning with the death of Diogo Jota. If underlying issues are resolved, gaps in the squad ironed out, then FSG would expect the Dutchman to reassert himself. [@_pauljoyce]

@AnfieldSector Unfortunately the “if given strong control over transfers and squad planning” will take him out of the running with Edwards at the helm. He needs a yes man willing to get on his knees.

Main bits from Axel Hesse’s article earlier: • Arne Slot is likely to be sacked after Liverpool’s poor run, with a decision expected by the summer. • Xabi Alonso is the top target to replace him but does not want to join mid-season. • Liverpool have been tracking Alonso since 2024 and kept in regular contact. • Alonso is open to joining if he is given strong control over transfers and squad planning. • His experience at Real Madrid made Xabi Alonso cautious about timing and control, which is why he does not want to take over during the season. • Liverpool see his return as a major opportunity to improve the squad’s performance. m.bild.de/sport/fussball…

[🟢] NEW: Despite the waters calming [after the truce in December], Arne Slot privately felt vindicated by his decision to take Mohamed Salah out of the team, believing it made his side more compact out of possession. While the football was not always easy on the eye, they went on an unbeaten run that lasted 13 games. [🟢] NEW: “All our information, despite reports to the contrary, is that Liverpool are sticking with Arne Slot. There’s no thought to changing coach. They are planning with him and their priority is to give him the profile of squad to succeed. “If you look at the range of factors on and off the pitch, it’s remarkable. I’m not surprised that Liverpool want to give him longer… he will be the massive part of their recruitment planning too.” [@David_Ornstein on the Athletic Podcast]

@AnfieldSector If they were so meticulous, why don’t they already have a dossier ready for the next candidate? Why haven’t they already been doing their due diligence? It’s clear this was heading one way and one way only months ago. Sounds like BS to me.

[📰] When Liverpool searched for Jurgen Klopp's successor, it was one that took the best part of six months before Slot emerged as the preferred candidate and the enormous dossier produced on him by the club, which was said to have been around 60 pages, was indicative of how meticulous they were in their recruitment drive. It's why the idea of dispensing with Slot now and bringing in a stop-gap appointment in the manner of United with interim boss Michael Carrick is simply a non-starter. The time for judgement will come at the end of the season. [@ptgorst] liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football…

@AnfieldSector The mentality of the players is exactly what Slot’s mentality is. Training or not, they should be there. Can see why we lose so many games in the final minutes. They can’t run and are mentally weak.
